He would like to trim the budget without diminishing the quality of the education. Russin. has two pre-school daughters. He is listed on both the Republican and Democratic slates. In the Lake Lehman School District there are also three vacancies on the school board. The incumbent president R. Arnold Garinger and John Deerfler and Allan Keiper will be seeking the two seats in their section of the ' district with the incumbent Kenneth Williams running unopposed in his section of the district. Garinger is running for his second full term on the board. Garinger originally was appointed to the board, serving one additional year of an unexpired term. He is listed on the Republican and Democratic tickets. Garinger said he is proud of ‘the work that bas been accomplished during the time he has served on the board and referred to the ‘many fantastic strides” which have been made. He stated, also, that the work begun would not be completed until goblins treat goodies. M. Denmon) Candidates the Lake-Lehman School District is “the best school locally”. Garinger pointed to his seven years of experience on the board as an important aspect of his qualifications. He commented that he has spent his entire life in education and is “vitally interested in kids”. Garinger has three daughters who are currently attending Lake-Lehman schools. He would like to see continued improvement in the school district and is especially interested in the new curriculum of the high school. Garinger is also concerned about keeping politics out of the public schools. John Doerfler of Harveys Lake is running for office for the first time and is listed as a Democrat. Doerfler cited his growing interest in community and school affairs as his main reasons for seeking office. Doerfler has ten years experience as a teacher and guidance counnselor which he feels are important to his qualifications to serve on the school board. Doerfler said he believes that public trust and confidence in the school board could be better and he would like to see improvements made. Doerfler stated that he would serve as an advocate for both the taxpayer and the child if he is elected. Doerfler has two children on in kindergarten and one in the elementary school. Allan Keiper of Noxen is also running for office for the first time. He is running on the Republican ticket. Keiper said he feels that the people of the Noxen, Lake Borough, and Lake Township areas of the district need to be better represented on the school board. } Keiper b elieves that he can look at issues honestly and make reasonable decisions. He would like to see programs instituted which would help to improve interest and attitude of the Lake Lehman students. Keiper also feels that improvements could be made in the athletic programs. Kenneth Williams is running unopposed in "his section of the district. Williams has served six years as a school director and said he feels that his experience qualifies him for continued service. Last Thursday’s session of the Lake-Lehman School parenting workshop dealt with just this subject, discipline. Is there enough? Should same old ideas? Many of the seventy five parents in attendance found a new light shed on the subject with a few new approaches on discipline to try for themselves. This evening Oct. 27th, the last session on parenting will take place in the Lehman Jackson Elementary Building at 7:30 p.m. It will be a live play, “The Inner Tiger”, presented by the Luzerne County Community College Players. The play deals with the individual who spoils the Popular Mark Five recording artists, The Waters Family of Eden, N.C.are bringing their unique presentation of gospel music for all ages to the First Assembly Of God, 340 Carverton Road, Trucksville, Sunday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. Travelling from coast to coast, The Waters Family is attracting record crowds wherever they appear. Maynard Waters, leader of the group, along with his lovely wife, Kay, and talented daughter Pam have won musical acclaim with their vocal arrangements of both traditional and contemporary gospel songs. Together with pianist Ken Joyner they comprise one of the fine sounds in gospel music. The songs range from the ever-popular ‘‘Amazing Grace’’ to the latest hit gospel tunes such as “Touring That city’, “Ten Thousand Years’’, and “Gettin’ Ready Today’. The family also sings new songs including ‘Even As I First Loved You’, ‘Front Seat, Back Seat’ and “‘Love’s Forgotten Shore’. Kay Waters is also a successful song writer and the group performs several of her original renditions including “All Aglow”’, as well as her latest release “I'm Just Letting My Heart Express Itself in Song.” This song, along with ‘Fron Seat, Back Seat,” was recently released by Mark Five Studios on a 45 RPM be helpful. 3 recording, which is being well received and given excellent reviews by DJ’s across the nation.
