This year they took first place in concert com- petition and first place in show competition, and a third place award in parade competition. Band director John Miliauskas won the Frank Miller award for outstanding director. Lake Lions plan dance The Harveys Lake Lions Club will hold their Annual Square Dance Jamboree, Saturday, July 2, from 8 to 12 p.m. at Irem Temple Country Club, Dallas. Chairman of the affair is purchased from any Lion member or at the door. One hundred forty band members and more than 175 parents and chaperones departed from the Lake- Lehman High School at 5:30 a.m. Saturday to travel to Sherburne. Following the competition the band members and adults had a picnic supper at Canosawacta Country Club. Following the dinner the band members elected officers for the 1977-78 year. Officers elected were president, Kathy Stefanowicz; «= vice president, Marcia George; treasurer, Debbie Kocher; secretary, Jill McCarroll; class representatives, senior, Jackee Pall; junior, Pam Marr; sophomore, Sandy McCarroll; freshman, Steve Barski; eighth grade, ' Marie Borton; captain of . color guards, Ronald Schall; captain of marching flags, Jackee Pall, co-captain, Jayme San Fanandre; captain of baton twirlers, Terri Morgan; captain of swing flags, Beth Youngman. On returning to the Back Mountain, the band members and parents were met at Whitesell Brothers by a motorcade and escorted to the high school where they were entertained with a fireworks display honoring them for their achievement. Back Mountain Wood Stoves, just off Route 118 in Lehman, had its grand opening Friday, Saturday and Sunday displaying Belgium, Ireland and the United States. The wood burning stoves, Dorothy Baker, part-owner The Back Mountain Cultural Center is offering summer classes which are the BMCC or to anyone who would like to become a member. : The summer schedule of classes, which range in study from Mid-Eastern belly dancing to golf or _ ceramics, will begin July 5 and will extend for six sessions. Tuition varies per class from $10 to $12. Membership in the BMCC is available for $2 per adult, $1 per child under 12, $5 per family or $10 per patron. Advanced registration is required for all classes. Checks should be made payable to the BMCC and sent to Box 129, Dallas, Pa. 18612. L-L band hoagies delivered The Lake-Lehman Band hoagies will be delivered Tuesday, June 14, from the Lehman United Methodist Church. All orders must be in by June 9. FUEL of the ‘store said, are a more efficient way to heat. The past winter, she said, sparked interest in the stoves as an alternative heat source. In a fireplace, Baker said, 90 percent of the heat is lost up the chimney. The wood burners are air tight, she said, and can burn the same loading of logs up to 14 hours before burning out. Back Mountain Wood Stoves is open from 9 to 6 "daily and evenings by appointment.
