3 A a Lo Casner Gula) A group of area residents and personnel from College Misericordia have combined forces to initiate the first Audubon Society chapter in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The concept of an official chapter of the national organization originated with College Misericordia’s bird sanctuary founded last year. Since the sanctuary had proven to be so successful, it was deemed appropriate that an Audubon chapter be established. Chapter planners are quick to point out, however, that the Audubon Society is not limited to bird watchers. The society works in all areas of conservation and environmental protection, including supporting a comprehensive national energy policy, protecting the public interest in public lands, and. prometing the conservation of wildlife and the natural environment.
