\ by the Rev. Charles H. Gilbert We have a good many habits at our house. We are unskilled in remembering just where we put something down, or it gets covered up by something somebody puts down later. And then when we want it again “lost it.” There should be some way of getting around such habits, for instance by remembering at once, just where we have laid something down, and then go get it. But we need some help at once. We have a more recent habit however, which does graciously help us over our problem of “but where is that thing? I just had it in my hand and now I have lost it!”’ In my study of better thinking I have been getting the habit of saying, and believing, ‘‘There is nothing lost in Divine Mind.” We like to tell each other sometimes, “Wouldn't it be a good idea if we could always remember where Divine Mind is?”’ All of which is an introduction to a recent case. : Unity of School of Christianity has given me a subscription to the little guide I have used for many years until my sight was mostly gone. But they have now made me a gift of monthly cassettes of that same Daily Word, now on tape. And then today I “lost” the most recent copy. I told Cathy I shouldn’t think it possible actually to lose such a She agreed with me that a book produced in and by Divine Mind really couldn’t be “lost.’”’ So I said “I know it can’t be lost in Divine Mind, it has to show up somewhere.” (Continued from P. 4) profit on us the taxpayers. The answer to this insinuation is 1n the tax assessor’s office for all to see. My performance as a councilman and road chairman speak for itself as well as my voting record on issues, even though I was caused much personal embarrassment by Mr. Giordano in September of 1976 at his Dallas, Pa. 18612 Phone (717) 675-1605 sewing needs. wholesalers. already LOW LOW PRICES. I had been rummaging around the right hand end of my desk where the cassette machine was idly waiting for me to put that little tape cassette on so I could hear the Daily Word for Monday, May 9. I had played it on Saturday, May 7, and had lost it that soon. I had not begun to straighten up the left end of my desk, for I had something else I had to do just then. Cathy issued a warning, ‘‘Beware of pushing things around on the left hand end; you might shove them off right into the wastebasket.”’ It’s a nice new one with a slippery, flexible trap door on top, and I didn’t think things could fall in easily. But she insisted that stuff could be pushed over the edge and onto that door and weigh it down enough to fall in. I realized that could be true and decided I'd better look carefully among the clutter of papers on the left end of the desk. Cathy went to town on some errands, and I went to work doing up the lunch dishes. When the dishes were finished I came back to my desk, for I knew I must decide on a subject for my column. My typewriter was temporarily disabled by ribbon trouble, so before leaving Cathy had said, with emphasis, “You know you can use my machine to write your column while I’m gone.” So I removed my typewriter from the desk and set it on a chair nearby (where IT would not get lost from Divine Mind nor from mine either!) Then I would bring her machine in to type on, although I hadn’t yet decided on a topic. 7 But: first there were two cassettes right there in front of me on my desk and I'd better check to see what they were. I picked up one and put it in the player long enough to identify what it was. This one was one of Nancy’s so I put it aside and put the other one in. Ah! This one was just doing last Saturday’s ‘‘day’’ of the Daily Word! The lost was found! I think I know what the mystery of the sudden appearance when I removed my typewriter. There had been something wrong about the ribbon, which I kept trying to fix so it kept getting worse and worse. Cathy had admonished me to leave it alone until she had a chance to get a new ribbon and fix it. But there it sat, blocking my vision and clogging up my thinking. So when I moved it out of the way, the tape which had been there right along became visible! I must report that the “mystery” objects is not always quite so mysterious; uncovered, but the affirmation is still a great help in housekeeping around a desk or a workbench in the cellar, or on the kitchen table, or -- well, it is a good thing to keep reminding ourselves that Divine Mind is a marvelous condition to know, as a help in keeping order, which is a quality of Divine Mind. It took this man three years of hard work to bring it to a reality. I'll always speak out on issues I deem essential and this is where the conflict lies. It’s not going to end with the termination of men like myself and Mr. Sherksnas or anyone else who doesn’t see eye-to-eye with Mr. Giordano. Let no one influence your vote.
