The Lake-Lehman softball team continued its winning streak by defeating Hanover 34-13. Debbie Barto began hitting for the Knights in the first inning with a triple. Barto, Garringer, and Travis were brought in by Sally Galka making the score 3-0 in the first. In the, third inning a rally, began by Debbie Barto, ended with a nine-run inning. Hanover was still unable to get on the scoreboard until the fifth inning when Urabel hit a homerun with the bases loaded. Hanover added. eight runs to the board in the fifth. In the first inning Lake- Lehman acquired seven runs on hits by Tracy Garringer, a double by Sally Galka, and a triple by Colleen Crane. Crestwood acquired two runs by Bean and Phillips. The second inning brought one more run for the Knights while the third inning brought five runs. Crestwood was unable to score in the second or the third innings. However, in the fourth inning, Crest- collected the only hits for the Mounts, booth of them singles. Skammer gave up five hits while striking out seven at the plate and walked two. Detweiler struck out nine men but the Comets were weak on the offense while the Mountaineers played good defense. The Comets are 0-5 going into this week’s final games of the first half. An ongoing goal of the Jaycee organization is to serve the needs of their community through club involvement. They have undertaken many projects including the 1976 Bicen- tennial Parade, Children’s Film Program, glass recycling drive and a community health fair. To add, another dimension to their com- munity involvement the club looked into the area of recreation and sports. The decision to become in- volved in the Back Mountain Bicentennial Run will provide in- volvement in this area. This year’s run will be held on Sunday, June 5 beginning at 11 a.m. The 10.3 mile scenic course through the Back Mountain will start and finish at College Misericordia. Registration which runs from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. will be held at the college.
