It was announced that 5,400 Campbell’s labels and 1,500 Post cereal box tops have been collected. Students are urged to continue bringing in these items for use in next year’s collection. This com- mittee will present a slate of officers at the May meeting. : Mr. Shaver’s fourth grade class won the award for the highest attendance at this month's meeting. Principal Walter Prokopchak announced that April 15 was report card day, and Parent- Teacher conferences would be held on April 18. It was announced that more library and clerical aides will be needed, and anyone wishing to volunteer as a full or part- time aide should contact Mrs. Marsha Landis or Mrs. Gloria Miller. At the conclusion of the business meeting, Gary Gray, Director of the Children’s Museum, gave brief talk and slide presentation. Refreshments were furnished and served by the second grade mothers. A children’s plant sale will be held on May 7, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Shavertown Shopping Center. The sale is for children to purchase small plants for their mothers for Mother’s Day. Prices will be very reasonable. Proceeds will be donated to WVIA-TV Channel 44. Big Bird will be on hand to greet all children and thank them for their contributions to channel 44. All plants, pots and soil have been donated. An installation wine and cheese party will be held on April 25 at Kennedy Lounge, College Misericordia. New officers and advisory board members will be installed at this time. Yearly awards will be presented at the Back Mountain Jaycees Installation and Awards Banquet on April 30. New officers and advisory board members will also be introduced at that time. The next meeting will be an organizational meeting on May 9 at 7:30 p.m. at College Misericordia. Fire auxiliary meeting The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Dallas Fire and Ambulance Inc., was held Monday evening, April 11. Ted Wright, Dallas Fire and Ambulance Inc., spoke to the auxiliary about the activities and plans being made to celebrate the fire company’s 50th ~an- niversary. The fire com- pany has ordered a new fire's truck. Com- memorative items are being sold and many ac- tivities planned for the summer which will climax with the Country Carnival weekend in September. President Ann Rowlands conducted the business meeting. She urged all auxiliary members to support the fire company in the anniversary celebration. Activities planned by the auxiliary for the near future include a Penn Dutch Cookie Sale, Friday evening, April 22, and Saturday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.,at the Country’s Best. Memorial Highway, Dallas. Ad- vanced orders are being taken by all the auxiliary members. A square dance will be Senior High School. Caller will be Red Jones and music will be furnished by the Polka Dukes. The auxiliary will sell baked goods at the Borough Building on election day. Sandy Sheehan was named chairman of the auxiliary’s summer picnic. Plans were made for a family Christmas party in early December. Beverly Honeywell was welcomed as a new member.
