Richards CLIPBOARD NOTES: Dallas mat coach, Larry Schuler, came under some fire from this past season, but his wrestlers may have put the lid on the critics with their strong showing over the weekend in the District 2 tourney. The Mountaineers took third behind Crestwood and Hanover...Brian Corbett (112) won his second straight title and was voted the Outstanding. Wrestler. He sports a nifty 21-1 log. Schuler said, “I was delighted with our per- formance and that of Brian’s and Ken’s. They wrestled very aggressive and earned their titles.”...Kuderka, only a sophomore, took the 167- pound crown and wasn’t considered that strong of a threat for the title. Ken is 18-4-1 on the season and in one of the toughest weight classes in the PIAA State tourney... Andy Pinter, a freshman, was second at 126 pounds. He lost to Jack Zaleskas of Lake-Lehman, a three-time winner... Coach Schuler only loses three grapplers off the team and appears headed back to a winning record next season... Zaleskas was Lake- Lehman’s only champ, while Dana Sutliff was runner-up at 167. The Knights finished down in the team standings, but with Dave Kyle and Bud Hennebaul out injured two sure first or second place’ winners, it was practically - lights-out for the tourney... Zaleskas is the type of wrestler who’s not flashy, he just grinds and dominates an opponent... As one of the statisticians for the Eastern Wrestling League Tournament, held this past weekend at Lock Haven State, we had the opportunity to visit with Coach Koll of the Nittany “We're always delighted to be ranked No. 1 in the Eastern Mat Poll. Wayne will graduate from Lock Haven State in May and intends to pursue a career as an athletic trainer. He's a student trainer for the Bald Eagles at the present time. We didn’t recognize him at first, but when he men- ° tioned his name we could remember the little gutty performer in the GAR game. The Pittston game stood out, too. Wayne wasn’t/a speed burner, but he’ had that knack of running North- South on the football field. He ran with abandon, too. Wayne said he found out he just wasn’t big enough or quick enough to make it big in college, so he decided to learn the trainer trade.
