In what might have been the highest caliber hockey in the area, Lake-Lehman lost its final game and its bid for a third consecutive district II championship to league Champs Wyoming Seminary. Both teams fought at an even pace in the first ten minutes of the game. How- ever, midway in the half, the Blue Knights’ pene- trated Lake-Lehman’s striking circle to put the first goal, by Ellen Adams, on the scoreboard. After the bully, Tracy Garinger and Debbie Barto drove to Seminary’s strik- ing circle to come within inches of tieing the score. When two goals were nulli- fied, a penalty stroke was awarded to Lake-Liehman. But Amy Miller, Semin- ary’s goalie, deflected the ball. Seminary then took over, but Sue Dockeray, Holly Rave, Miralie Long, Mary potato, Sue Rish, Sally Galka, and Sherry Naugle held the score to 1-0. In the second half, Wyoming Sem got a quick goal by Ellen Adams, her 12th for the season. When the clock ticked away the final minutes, Wyoming Semi- nary’s eleven were the offi- cial hockey league champs by a win of 3-2 over Liake- Lehman. The regular monthly meeting of the Harveys Lake Rod and Gun Club, Inc. was held at the clubhouse with approximately 50 members present. Coach Florence Finn's Lake-Lehman Jr. High hockey team battled Becky Shuster’s Dallas to a 1-1 tie on Nov. 1. Dallas controlled the ball in the first half, but the Knight’s Sherri Sulton was able to score the lone goal of the period. ‘After that, the Knights defense tightened, despite several threats saved by Lake- Lehman goalie Annette Kowalsky. In the second half, it was the Knight’s turn to control the ball. On several occasions the Knight's threatened goalie Tammy Letteer, who ' made impressive saves, and the Dallas defense held. In the last minute of the game, Dallas drove the ball to Lake-Lehman territory where mp they were awarded a penalty corner. Due to a quick rush by Knights Tony Pall and Pat Norris, the corner was not converted. Thursday ended an evenly matched tilt in which both teams, hampered by frigid winds, were neither beaten nor victorious. What seemed like the third or fourth quarters of Monday's: Lake-Lehman vs. Dallas game, a winner was still not established Thursday, November 4. The hard fought battle between the rivals ended in a 2-2 tie. In the first half, Lake-Lehman took the lead late on a goal by Amy Garinger. However, Dallas came back strong in the second half and tied the score. Then Amy Garinger once again scored for the Knights giving Lake- Lehman a 2-1 lead. Dallas was not to be outdone, for Debbie Reese scored for the mountaineers tieing the score 2-2. In the past three games between = the Knights and Mountaineers, the score has been tied exemplifying the competitive spirit between the two teams. Coaches Shuster and EC Sth Ci Pear half, butter Phillip’s Mountaineers now boast a 6-2-3 record for the season while coach Finn’s Knights attained a 3-1-3 ‘record. These records predict an interesting future for both Back Mountain Teams. BMWC team schedules physicals The Back Mountain team will hold team physicals on Sunday, Nov. 14 at the American Legion Home, Memorial Highway, Dallas from 1 to 3 p.m. Registrations will also be held at this time for any youngster in grades three through sixth and under 13 years of age.
