tress until her recent ap-
pearance in the Hollywood
designing circles, incor-
porates a special theatrical
glamour into her fashions.
Travilla, best known for
designing the fashions for
“Marilyn Monroe Movies,
also received an Academy
Award for designing the
creations worn by Flyn in
the movie ‘Don Juan.”
A group of young, avant
garde Hollywood designers
working under the name of
their designs. The word
“Maya’’ is Hindu for illu-
sion, and ~ represents
fashions which do not con-
form to trends, but reflect
today’s moods of indivi-
duality and expression.
Also in this category of.
young designers are
Holly’s Harp, noted for
fashions created from soft,
flowing fabrics which
emphasize the lines of the
Oak Hill
body, and Norma Camali,
who designs for personal-
ities such as Bianca
Jaggar, wife of rock star
Mick Jaggar.
Fashion is a cultural
experience, a personal art.
Fashion creativity burns
like a flame. It can light up
the mind and kindle desire,
and Hess’s fashions cap-
ture this excitement.

Wasn't it nice that Gate
of Heaven’s Parent
Teacher Guild babysat for
us Sunday afternoon?
While our youngsters
viewed the movies ‘and
stuffed themselves silly
with popcorn and candy,
we were able to catch up on
some breathing.
The Guild plans to
sponsor a ‘Sunday After-
noon at the Movies’’ once a
month. Thank goodness for
little things.
Belated greetings to
Donna Sue James who
celebrated her seventh
birthday Oct. 21.
Happy to note that Betty
Marquis is recuperating at
home after being a surgical
patient at Wilkes-Barre
General Hospital.
Hope to hear soon that
Marie Bellas is up and
around being her normal
self again. Marie has been
suffering with a slipped
disc and hasn’t been in the
mood to ‘Hustle’ or in Al's
case ‘Tango.’
All Oak Hill’s youngsters
are sorry that their athletic
director Gary Naugle is off
to Spain for his Navy
assignment. While home on
leave at his in-laws The Os-
the youngsters ages 6 and
up and play football.
Birthday greetings are
extended to Karen
Iwanowski whose ninth
birthday is October 31, to
Megan Flynn her ninth,
October 29, J.J. Downs,
October 30 and Jamie Bar-
low, October 26.
Sorry to learn that
Gladys Husted is a surgical
patient at Wilkes-Barre
General Hospital. Hurry up
and get well so I can tease
you again.
With her flower lei in
hand and a lump in her
throat, Karen Fertal has
returned home after
spending nine days in
beautiful Hawaii. Karen
along with her good friend
Taryn McGinis, joined the
Gate of Heaven travelers
on their annual tour of
Hawaii.
I don’t know if it was in
honor of her up-coming
Oct. 28 birthday, but Fran
Dress spent a lovely week
end in Mt. Stowe, Vermont,
where she enjoyed the
company of a dear friend
Fran Wentzel, along with
the gorgeous scenery.
Tuesday is Election Day,
so don’t forget to exercise
your right and power to
vote.
Reading, Pa. will never
be the same. This past
Saturday, Geri Bartz,
Marianne Cleary and Our
Miss Brooks, Julie
Iwanowski, drove down
and literally hit every out-
let along the way and out of
the way. Then they told me
they were tired and have
headaches.
‘Mommy you should see
Kristina, she’s beautiful,
she had the smallest nose I
ever saw and doesn’t wake
up when we make noise.”
That was our George des-
cribing the Burke's new
baby, after seeing her for
the first time. He can’t get
over that babies start out
so small and grow and
grow and grow. To tell you
the truth, neither can I.
This Tuesday our baby
will celebrate his seventh
birthday and I can’t be-
lieve it. In fact I better
change my tune. I keep
saying my extra weight is
due to my last pregnancy.
After seven years who am I
kidding?
After Oak Hill's buffet
dinner dance this coming
Saturday, I wonder what’s
going to spring forward
and fall back. The clock or
some neighbors.

The third grade students
of the Dallas Area Schools
toured the Eggleston Cider
plant and orchards
recently. They were ac-
companied by their
teachers.
