Everytime I hear of a farmer dance, I remeber the first time we went to one. Bad enough I didn’t know ‘ala-man left’ from: ‘swing your partner’ to have everyone “doe-si- doeing’ on my wig. (You don’t forget things like that!) Well, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lehman Fire Company promises the same fun (only I won’t wear a wig) June 18 at the Lehman Jackson Junior High School. The theme of the evening will be Bicentennial and the Paul Revere of the dance will be Red Jones. Guests are encouraged to but are welcomed with or without. Door prizes will be awarded and tickets may be purchased by contacting Kay Hozempa, Chris Sutton or Kate McDay. Shawn Borton and Rebecca Gregg shared their seventh birthday with a party for their Gate of Heaven first grade classmates on June 2 and June 6. Congratulations to John and Helen Kishkill. The couple will celebrate an anniversary June 14. Happy birthday to Steve Menges whose big day is June 14. The Bickings, the Gordons and his wife Irene, wish to thank Tom Smith, the hop-a-long of the camping set for doing all the cooking, setting up and whatever, on their recent trip to 1,000 Isalnds, Canada. Tom really did a lot, he broke his toe while hitching the trailer to the car and his tires gave them trouble causing them to stop several times. The Belasco’s hosted a buffet dinner in honor of the Angelicola’s. Many friends attended, but were very careful of what they said in front of this reporter. In fact Leo Bartz kept reminding everyone ‘‘be aware, you know who’s here.” “Mom, Mr. Rebar doesn’t need to mow his lawn.” Mom, ‘How come?’ George, ‘he has horses, rabbits and turkeys, who chew up the grass. Can’t we get some of those animals?’’ This and a hundred other suggestions were put to me following Gate of Heaven’s first graders enjoyable visit to the Rebar’s farm. Think I'm getting the message. First a fellow with the initials T.J. said “Bridgette, I'll meet you in The Glen, I find out there’s no love tunnel. Then Denny Dobbinick said he would drive my car home providing I behave myself.
