home from a two week visit

older daughter, graduated

we're behind, were
tied,: that’s how the
basketball game went
between St. Mary’s of
Avoca and Gate of Heaven,
Thursday evening at the
school gymnasium. Like an
elastic band, that ball was
pulled, yanked, dumped
from basket to basket.
To the cheering, yelling,
screaming, stomping of
everyone, Gate of Heaven
in the last half of the fourth
quarter with a half minute
to go wins 83-82. And as the
coaches, teachers, and
parents were being given
mouth-to-mouth
resusitation the players
and cheerleaders were
jumping for joy.
If I knew that I would get
so carried away with these
projects my children get
involved with, I would have
married at an earlier age

heart, liver and kidneys
would be in a younger and
better shape!
Belated birthday

Farrell who celebrated his

J. Butler received two
stitches when he and the
telephone pole collided.

Robert Rexroad, who has

the past three years, will be
responsible for the co-
ordination of public
information and public
relations for United
Cerebral Palsy of
Pennsylvania, which

Palsy affiliates and two
service committees.

Amy Phillips, 9-year-old

Harry Phillips, 113 Summit
St., Shavertown, won two
first place ribbons in the
gymnastics meet between
the Wilkes-Barre YWCA
and the YWCA at
Williamsport.
Amy won in the 10-and-
under age group on the
balance beam and floor
exercises.
The team is coached by
Karen Earl, of Cen-
termoreland, a 1972

Amy is a fourth grade
student at Westmoreland
Elementary school.

walk-a-thon that raised

United Cerebral Palsy,
Rexroad was recently
appointed to the executive
board of the Penn
Mountains Council, Boy

fire company did assist at
fires in = neighboring
townships and attended to
Barre ‘Salute to the
Schaefer 500’.

Prisoner of War Camp, an Army Reserve unit in Wilkes-
Barre, this week honored SEC Anthony ‘Ike’ Serhan as
their “man of the month.”” Serhan, a Harveys >
resident; is assigned as administrative assistant to tie’
402nd commander, Col. Harold P. Trethaway, during
regular working hours. He has served with the camp
since 1967. Serhan is a widower with four children, a son
Gary in Harrisburg; Marvin with the Navy in aviation at
Mrianer, Calif.; and Sandra and David at home.
