Manor will give a program
on do-it-yourself gifts and

holidays in the library's
main building. All mothers
who bring their children for
storyhour and anyone else
who is interested are
invited to attend.
Dallas Area High School
will be the ‘site of a
performance by the Navy,
Oct. 31

Navy's history. Well, that’s
one definition. The present
definition is a new and
exciting U.S. Navy jazz
stage band. The band is
from Newport, Rhode
Island.
The band will be in
Dallas as part of
community activities
program to show area
youth that the service has
lived up to its slogan, ‘‘be
someone special in the
Navy.” The Windjammers
will give a free public
concert Oct. 31, beginning 2
p.m.
The fifteen. piece band
was formed in July 1974 to
keep the big jazz band
the new and modern big
band sound. Most of the
band's performances take
place in high schools,

According to the band’s
Schauble, audience
reaction has been ‘‘wild.”
“We do all types of music
from Glenn Miller and
Tommy Dorsey to
Maynard Ferguson, Thad

Ellis. After our concerts,
it’s not unusual for the
audience to mob the stage.

Shavertown will sponsor a
Holiday Bazaar, Nov. 14
and 15 at the church.
Members of the society
are holding work nights at
the church where they are
preparing for the gift
tables.

items and a variety of gifts
for the holidays.

plant at Mehoopany, Pa.
have set a new world
record for safe operation.
On Oct. 20. the modern
household paper products
plant, . employing 2400
people. surpassed 3.5
million consecutive hours
of work without a disabling
injury. a world record for
the tissue manufacturing
industry.

The staff divided into two
sections following the
general assembly. Section
A met in the high school
gym where first aid
techniques were :
demonstrated. Faculty
members were shown how
epilepsy, eye emergencies,
bleeding, burns, poison,
fractures, and athletic
injuries.
Section B met in Junior
high rooms 103-105 where
they gained first-hand
information on the new
Right-to-Read program
from John Wega, Eleanor
Buda. and Linda Baird.
Eunice Mitchell presided
over the regular monthly
meeting of Joy Class of
Kunkle United Methodist
Church held recently at the
home of Jane Elston with
co-hostess, Elva Elston.
Ayleen Landon and Sally
Dodson gave devotions.
Members discussed
starting a craft night.

in the Philadelphia
Inquirer following the
recital.

of the organ department at
the Curtis Institute. and
previously served on the
faculties of the Union
Theological Seminary.
