Raymond Kadurka, Jr.
is spending the summer
vacation with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
Kadurka, Sr., Orange,
after completing his junior
year of study for a physical
ed. degree at Stroudsburg
State College. He is a 1971
graduate of Dallas Area
High School and studied at
Wilkes College before
transferring to Strouds-
burg.
Belated congratulations
are extended to Mrs. Helen
Jones of Centermoreland,
birthday anniversary on
May 21.
This week's brass ring
for a free ride on the Back
Country Merry Go Round
goes to Karl and Helen
Besteder of Centermore-
land, who continued an
annual custom in tidying
up the grounds surround-
ing the veterans’ honor roll
in Centermoreland. The
honor roll took on a spank-
ing clean appearance with
geraniums and dusty
millers adding a Spring
touch to the highly mani-
cured lawn.
Incidently, the flag flying
from the mast at the
Centermoreland honor roll
is a new one and was
donated for the honor roll
by Mrs. Helen Jones of
Centermoreland. It was the
same flag presented to
Mrs. Jones at the time of
the funeral of her late son,
John, who served for five
years with the Army in
World War II.
‘ United Methodist Women
of the Carverton Charge
met Tuesday.
_Fanti’s Pond is a favorite
spot for fishermen these
summer days and nights.
Numerous catches of
scalico bass, blue gills and

catfish have been reported.
The Rev. and Mrs.
Richard Jagger of Cen-
termoreland are attending
the: annual Wyoming
Conference sessions of the
Methodist Church being _
held this week end at Elm
Park Methodist Church in
Scranton. Rev. Mr. Jagger
will be ordained a full elder
of the church at services
Saturday evening in Elm
Park Methodist Church
with Bishop James Ault of
the Philadelphia Area
presiding.
Friends of Ted Wilson of
East Dallas will be pleased
to hear he is coming along
nicely at home following a
stay in Nesbitt Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn
Major of Centermoreland
are spending a week at
their summer cottage in
Canada.
Mrs. A. Zajkowski and
daughter Ann and Mrs. J.
Parra of Manville, N.J.
have returned after visit-
ing the former’s brother
and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Edward Dorrance,
Sr., Orange.
Congratulations are
extended to Misses Janice
Hislop of Orange; Cyndi
Ayers of Centermoreland
and Colette Feeney of
Shavertown. They were
rated ‘‘Superior’ winners
in the National Piano
Teachers’ Guild Auditions.
Each National Winner pre-
pared a program of ten
piano pieces from memory
and presented them before
the nationally known
pianist, Dr. Norma
Auchter of Texas, in
auditions held at Wilkes
College, Wilkes-Barre. All
three are presently study-
ing piano with Harold L.
Hoover of Orange, who re-
ceived his bachelor of

is undergoing therapy for

Wesley Lewis of Mt. Zion
will represent the three
churches of the Carverton
Charge at the annual
Wyoming Conference
sessions of the church
being held this week end in
Elm Park Methodist
Church. With both pastors,
Rev. Paul Bauer of the
Carverton Charge and
Rev. Richard Jagger of the
Centermoreland Charge at
Conference, members of
the Gideons will preach in
all six area Methodist
Churches Sunday morning:
Confraterinity of Christ-
ian Doctrine of St. Frances
Cabrini Church, Car-
verton, and Blessed Sacra-
ment Church, Centermore- -
land, will meet Tuesday
evening at 7:30 at the
Centermoreland Church.
Sunday masses at St.
Frances Cabrini Church as
announced by Rev.
Thomas J. Croghan,
pastor, will be offered at 7,
9, 11:30 a.m. and 5 in the
afternoon. Masses also will
be offered at St. Frances
Saturday afternoon at 4:30
and 6:30. In Blessed Sacra-
ment Church, Centermore-
land, Sunday morning
mass will be offered at
10:30.
Week end golfers were
out in full swing last week
end at Orange Golf Course
despite some showers that
interrupted play for a time
Sunday. The local course
continues to attract larger
numbers as the season pro-
gresses.
Some nice improvements
were made during the past
night at Emmanuel's
Garage. in Orange, adding
a progressive touch to the
business center. The
parking area in front of the
garage received a new
black-topping and new
garage doors replaced the
old ones.
Congratulations are ex-
tended to Miss Virginia
Dorrance of Demunds
Road, who received her
bachelor of science degree
in psychology at recent
commencement exercises
of Kings College, Wilkes-
Barre. She is a 1971 grad-
uate of Dallas Area High
School.
Thomas Earl, Jr. is
home for the summer
vacation from Edinboro
State College. He will
return to one of his first
loves - as a radio an-
nouncer for Station WILK,
Wilkes-Barre, for the
summer, then will enter
West Chester State College
for his final semester of
study for a teaching
degree. He studied
engineering for two years
at Penn State before enter-
ing Edinboro State. He is
the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Earl, Sr., Mt.
Zion.
Mrs. Millard Beatty and
son, Millard, Jr. of Center-
moreland returned
Monday after visiting her
mother, Mrs. Adelaide
Hollman, in Village Green,
Pa. ‘on Sunday. On
Saturday they attended a
wedding at Albright
College, Reading.
A bible study discussion
group began Tuesday
evening in Centermoreland
Methodist Church and will
continue for six sessions on
alternate Tuesday nights
under the leadership of
Rev. Richard pastor.
Under discussion and study
is “First © Letter To
Timothy.” Next session is
scheduled for Tuesday
night, June 17.

Sunday morning at 10:30 in
Blessed Sacrament
Church, Centermoreland.
Interest in Little League
baseball was running high
as this edition went to press
with Dick Hislop’s Orange-
Centermoreland Yankees
in a three-way battle for
first half honors in the
Robert Horlacher
Memorial League. The
Yankees ended first half
play in a tie with Beaumont
and Noxen and were
participating in playoff
games for first half honors
after the team had amini-
stered a second defeat to
Beaumont to bring on the
three-way tie. Yankees
played Noxen on Saturday
in the first game but it was
called after three innings
because of rain and was
rescheduled for, Monday.
Winner was slated to
oppose Beaumont, which
drew the bye, for first half
honors.
Mother and daughter
communion breakfast will
be held Sunday morning
after the 9 o'clock mass.
