“Funny Girl,”’ the musical
that made Barbara
Steisand a superstar, as its
final production of the
current season.
Starring Rosalie Joseph,
Moosic, as Fanny Brice,
will open af, the theatre on

May 9 and run con-
currently May 10 and 11.
Robert Niznik, Kingston,
who danced in the original
stage production starring
Miss Streisand, will direct
the production.

1975 was made by John B.
Hibbard, Wyoming, and
cochairmen of the panel
representing the communi-
ties of central Luzerne and
lower Wyoming Counties of
Blue Cross of Northeastern
Pennsylvania. The special
meeting will be held May 7,
12:15 p.m. it will be a
luncheon forum for all
advisory, board members
at the Hotel Sterling,
Wilkes-Barre.
Assisting in the discuss-
ion will: be Blue Cross
President Ralph: S. Smith
and F.W. Remington, vice
president-external affairs.
The 34 persons who make
up this area’s Advisory
Board panel, are among
the 167 volunteer
representatives who serve
without financial compen-
sation to represent the
communities’ Blue Cross
and Blue Shield sub-
scribers.
Robert Redmond,
Orange, was elected
president of the Orange
Lions Club at its recent
meeting. Redmond, who is
serving as first
president of the Orange
Lions, will succeed Gerald
July 1. Distasio is com-
pleting a term as charter
president of the club, which
was organized lat summer.

The auxiliary of the
Shavertown Fire Company
met on April 14 at the fire
hall. Mrs. Robert Roe,
Dallas, was guest speaker
and represented Women
Organized Against Rape.
Plans were made for the
Golden Anniversary
Celebration of the Fire
Company. The following
were named Chairmen:
Florence Pugh and Alice
Dorosky, white elephant
booth; Vivian Newcomb,
float; Hope Beisel, hand-
work; Kathie Roman,
“Belle” of the Shavertown
Fire Co. contest; and
Louise Newcomb, donuts
and coffee.
The auxiliary will
provide cake and coffee on
April 27 for the firemen
attending the Propane Fire
School at the fire hall.
On July 19 the members
of the auxiliary will
sponsor a food booth at the
soap box derby.

The Northeast Chapter of
the Pennsylvania Library
Association will hold its
spring meeting on May 3 at
the Library Media
Examination Center,
Luzerne Intermediary
Unit, Kingston. The topic of
the workshop will be ‘The
Library in' the Com-
munity.”
Richard Parsons of the
Baltimore (Maryland)
Public Library will deliver
the keynote address, en-
titled ‘‘Community In-
volvement Projects of the
Baltimore Public
Library.”
After lunch, which will
be served at the center,
Emily Hosey of the Dallas
(Pa.) School District will
present an address titled
“Throughout the School
Year in the School
Library.” A short business
meeting will follow her
speech.
All librarians and library
employees of public,
academic, school, in-
dustrial and institutional
libraries are invited to
attend.

town Fire Department will
be selected during the week
of the Firemen’s 50th
Anniversary celebration.
The ‘‘Belle” will be
selected by judges from the
community and will be
crowned the evening of
May 21 at the fairgrounds.
Miss or Mrs. Belle will
reign during 1975 and will
be presented at the Fire-
parade, May 24.
The applicant must be
between the ages of 16 and
35 years of age, and must
be active in community,

Club is having a card and
games party, May 15 from
7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at St.
Therese’s auditorium,
Pioneer Ave., Shavertown.
Refreshments will be
served, and there will be
some free games, door
prizes and table prizes.
All those who are in-
terested in supporting the
Dallas athletic teams,
whether of their families
belong or not, are invited to
attend. Tickets are
available at the door or for
members, or call 696-2874
for tickets. Those coming
are asked to bring their
own cards.
The committe includes
