Mrs. Robert Roe, Dallas, was guest speaker and represented Women Organized Against Rape. Plans were made for the Golden Anniversary Celebration of the Fire Company. The following were named Chairmen: Florence Pugh and Alice Dorosky, white elephant booth; Vivian Newcomb, float; Hope Beisel, hand- work; Kathie Roman, “Belle” of the Shavertown Fire Co. contest; and Louise Newcomb, donuts and coffee. The auxiliary will provide cake and coffee on April 27 for the firemen attending the Propane Fire School at the fire hall. On July 19 the members of the auxiliary will sponsor a food booth at the soap box derby. Three new members Library to hold workshop The Northeast Chapter of the Pennsylvania Library Association will hold its spring meeting on May 3 at the Library Media Examination Center, Luzerne Intermediary Unit, Kingston. The topic of the workshop will be ‘The Library in' the Com- munity.” Richard Parsons of the Baltimore (Maryland) Public Library will deliver the keynote address, en- titled ‘‘Community In- volvement Projects of the Baltimore Public Library.” After lunch, which will be served at the center, Emily Hosey of the Dallas (Pa.) School District will present an address titled “Throughout the School Year in the School Library.” A short business meeting will follow her speech. All librarians and library employees of public, academic, school, in- dustrial and institutional libraries are invited to attend. The ‘‘Belle” will be selected by judges from the community and will be crowned the evening of May 21 at the fairgrounds. Miss or Mrs. Belle will reign during 1975 and will be presented at the Fire- parade, May 24. The applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 35 years of age, and must be active in community, PAGE FIVE school, church or civic not a beauty contest. Persons may enter by filling out the blank below or by obtaining one from in the Back Mountain Area or from the Shavertown Fire Company. Completed applications may be deposited in designated boxes in business places or mailed directly to the fire company. All applications must be filed prior to May 14. The Dallas Mother's Club is having a card and games party, May 15 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at St. Therese’s auditorium, Pioneer Ave., Shavertown.
