age or older may enroll in
courses at Misericordia without
tuition charges. All summer
courses are open under the
program on a space available
basis and if no prerequisites are
involved.
No credits are issued for the
tuition-free studies but older
students enrolled in the course
participate in all class projects
and activities.
Misericordia implemented
the program in the spring with
seven students enrolled. All
seven of the older students
selected different courses,
ranging from biology to theatre
arts.
The program, one of the first
of its type in the country,
received enthusiasm from both
the students and faculty
members involved. Faculty
personnel indicated that the
older students added ‘‘new
insight” to classroom discuss-
ions, according to a college
report.
Misericordia’s summer day
classes begin on June 24. In-
terested persons may register
at the college on weekdays
between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The qualifying age of 55 was
selected because it is the en-
