When the Connolly brothers of
they already had a vision of a
plan. They could foresee a great
future for the location as a shop-
ping center, and today they are
seeing their dreams realized.
By 1958, as extensive excava-
tion gave way to usable land,
the Connolly brothers saw the
opening of a Giant Supermar-
ket, the first of several busines-
ses to be located in what is now
known as the Luzerne Shopping
Center. The Fairway Finance
Corp. soon occupied the next
Dallas Hwy.

brothers, John, Pat and Mike,
says he hopes their plans will
continue to develop for a more
complete shopping center at the
Luzerne location. The brothers
are currently negotiating for a
drug store, they say, to open in
the center soon, and they are
negotiating with a beer distri-
butor who may occupy the
building which stands in the
foreground, close to the high-
way.
The center is conveniently
located on the highway which is
the main artery linking the
Back Mountain communities
with the west side of Greater
Wyoming Valley. And ac-
cording to Mr. Connolly, the
shopping center should provide
an ev etter location when the
Cross "Valley Expressway is
completed. It will pass behind
the shopping complex, with
exits leading off directly into
the center.
