According to information released by Dr. Linford Werk- heiser, Dallas School District superintendent, it is practically impossible to renovate a wood- frame building to meet the State Fire and Panic Law (Act 299) regulations. Even the costs to bring the building up to stan- dards that would permit the use of classroom space on the first floor appear prohibitive. The Shavertown school will not be used for classes in the coming years. Classes will be transferred to other elementary schools in the district. New attendance areas and revised bus routes are presently being developed. The Westmoreland and Trucksville Elementary Schools will house youngsters, kindergarten through grade four, from the southern portion Page 19 of the district. The Dallas Elementary School and the Dallas Township Elementary School * (formerly the Dallas Intermediate School) will house youngsters, kinder- garten through grade four from the northern areas of the district. The new temporary school will be named the Dallas Intermediate School and will house all district fifth and sixth grade classes.
