Page 8 Residents A Back Mountain couple for 59 years, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Prokopchak observed their 62nd wedding anniversary, May 28. The couple reside on a farm in Orange, Franklin Township, where they settled in 1914. Mrs. Prokopchak, the former Anastasia Zabowska, came to the United States from Ukraine age of 15. Mr. Prokopchak came from Galecia, Austria in 1904 at the age of 17. The couple met in New York and were married there in 1911. $ They settled first in Edwards- ville because Mr. Prokopchak had a job with the Kingston Coal Company. They had four children: Michael, Bloomfield, N:J., superintendent of Chemical Division of Westing- house; John, deceased, the father of three children; Walter, Dallas, principal in Dallas Area Elementary School and the father of three children; and Nicholas, Wyoming, pro- prietor of Green Acres Dairy Bar and the father of seven chil- dren. The couple live in one side of a double block on the farm, next ‘Sweet Sixteen’ Three area girls were recently honored at a ‘“‘Sweet Sixteen’ party at the American Legion Home, Swoyersville. The three friends were JoAnn Pometchko, Jane Marstell and Nancy Voitek. Miss Pometchko is the daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Pometchko, 88 Ridge St., Shavertown. Miss Marstell’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. George Marstell, RD 3, Wyoming. Miss Voitek is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David V. Voitek, RD 3, Wyoming. The girls are all juniors. Miss Marstell attends the Dallas Senior High School; her two. friends go to West Side Central Catholic High School. The legion hall was decorated in pink, blue and yellow; each color is the favorite of one of the girls. They each had a cake in their own favorite color as well. Approximately 75 persons attended the affair. College Names Three Locals to Dean's List Three area student’s were among 673 named to the second semester dean’s list at East Stroudsburg State College. They are David D. Smith, Box 609, Harveys Lake, a secondary education major; Judy A. Allen, 99 Shaver Ave., Shavertown, a speech correction major; and Patricia A. Corbett, 201 Clear- view Ave., Trucksville, a physical education major. Students eligible for the dean’s list are those who have attained a 3.2 quality point average. The letter grade ‘“B’’ earns 3 quality points per credit, and the grade “A” earns 4 per credit. Grad Photos Ready Lake-Lehman graduation photos are now at the main office of the high school. Mr. Prokopchak was one of the original founders of St. John’s Russian Orthodox Church, Edwardsville, and on occasion they are able to attend services there. to their son, Walter. They like living by themselves and do their own housework. Mr. Prokopchak plants his own garden and helps his wife make homemade bread. Lehman Girl to Attend Engineering Workshop Harriet Kocher has been selected as one of a hundred participants from nearly 500 applicants to attend the Women in Engineering Workshop which will be held at Michigan Technological University, August 13-17.
