The ‘local students were among some 300 seniors who received bachelor’s degrees from the 115-year-old liberal arts college. i Gregory M. Beck : Cadel Richard T. Reese, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin H. Reese. 74 Valley View Park, Route 3. Dallas, will graduate from West Point academy June 6. Cadet Reese will receive a Bachelor of Science degree and hi§ commission as an infantry second lieutenant. A 1968 grad- uate of Wifbming Valley West High School, cadet Reese at- fended the military academy preparatory school at Ft. Bel- voir. Va., before entering the military academy. While at West Point, cadet Reese was a member of the German Language Club, the Cadel Chapel Acolytes and the He also played guard on the football team and midfield on the lacrosse team. During his senior year he held the rank of cadet lieutenant. Admiral Thomas H. Moorer, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. will give the graduation address to the newly commis- sioned officers. The academy, located on the Hudson River, some 50 miles north of New York City, has provided career army officers since 1802. Richard T. Reese Capt. Larry W. Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben H. Ed- wards. 29 Midland Drive, Dallas. has received a regular com:nission in the U.S. Air Band Sponsors To Hold Meeting The first summer meeting of the Lake-Lehman = Band held June 18 at the high school al 7 p.m. This will coincide with the first summer evening band practice. New officers will be installed and a picture taken. Officers are asked to dress accordingly. Mr. Miliauskas and the Association members invite parents of both Cadet and Varsily Bands to attend and take part in the undertakings of this group, which works all year to help supply the band with necessary equipment and funds for the various trips. Everyone is welcome. 2 Local Girls Receive Degrees Two Dallas girls were among 734 persons to receive degrees from Kutztown State College at spring commencement exer- cises May 26. Joan -E. ‘Nelson, New Goss Manor. received her B.S. in Elizabeth Smith, Shrine View, Dallas. earned the same de- gree. Capt. Edwards previously held a USAF reserve commis- sion as an Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps grad- uate. He was named for regular status on the basis of his educa- tional background and oul- standing duly performance as an Air Force officer. He is serving al Tinker as a logistics officer with the Okla- homa City Air Material Area, part of the Air Force Logistics Command. AFLC provides sup- plies and equipment for Air Force units. The captain. a 1964 graduate of Dallas Senior High School, earned his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering in 1968 from Lehigh Universily and was commissioned there the same year. The captain also holds a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee's Space Institute al Tullahoma. Amy Lawrence Denison Graduate An area resident was among more than 515 seniors who com- pleted degree requirements and were gradualed from Denison University. Granville. Ohio, at its 132nd annual commence- ment, May 27. Amy Lawrence, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Law- rence, 123 White Birch Lane, re- ceived a B.A. degree in religion. Miss Lawrence was a mem- studying at Denison. Dwight Davis Receives Degree from Layfayette and Mrs. Stephen N. Davis; Pioneer Avenue, Dallas, has received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Lafayette College. Easton. Mr. Davis was a 1969 graduate of Wyoming Seminary. Kingston. He was among 480 seniors lo receive bachelor degrees June 1, at the school's 138th Com- mencement ceremonies. Immediately following grad- uation exercises, a luncheon was held at the Bellvue-Strat- ford Holel for the graduales of the Dental Hygiene School and invited guests. Beaver Graduates Sally Anne Harter Sally Anne Harter, daughter of Mrs. Sherman Harter, of 140 Woodlip Drive, was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree at Beaver College at the commencemenl exercises held May 27 at ‘2:30 p.m. on the campus lawn. R. Buckminister Fuller. world renowned scientist, poet, philosopher, humanist, engineer, architect and creator of the internationally famous Geodesic dome, delivered the commencement address. One hundred and eighty-nine seniors were candidates for degrees. One hundred and sixly- nine received bachelor of arts degrees; two received bachelor of science degrees in medical technology. and 18 received bachelor of fine arts degrees. Miss Harter majored in French al Beaver. She is a graduate of Dallas Senior High School. While at Beaver Miss Harter served as chairman of the ‘‘big sister-little sister’ program and as a member of Beaver chapter of the Philadelphia ‘Tutorial Project. She was also a member of the French club and a represen- lative to the student senate. Miss Harter spent her junior year al the University of Paris (Sorbonne).
