cepted stall applicants for the
forthcoming season at Pocono
Downs is like reading harness
racing’s Who’s Who.
Those accepted for the
Pocono Downs 98 day meeting
which begins May 18 and runs
uninterrupted through Sept. 8
include Herve Filion, world-
champion driver; Stanley
Dancer, who developed
Albatross, last year’s harness
horse-of-the-year, and Super
Bowl, the world’s leading three-
year-old trotter last year; Glen
Garnsey, who is custodian of the
powerful Castleton Farm
stable; Billy Haughton, whose
extensive stable is among the
nation’s best; and Roland
Beaulieu, whose Romalie

the season’s world sophomore
pacing queen.
Filion, who broke his own
record for the total number of
successes in; a single season
with 605 winner’s circle visits,
has designated a stable of 25
horses for the Pocono Downs
meeting. The world-champion
Canadian has told Racing
Secretary Ted Leonard that he
will make other horses in his
massive stable available
throughout the season.
Dancer, the Squire of New
Egypt, will lean more heavily
on the youngsters in his stable
to carry his colors during the
Pocono Downs meeting
although, like Filion, he will
have other horses available
during the season.
World champion
in the roster of campaigners
that will represent Castleton
Farm and driver Glen Garnsey
here this season. Four of his top
pacing candidates--Gypsy Bret,
Tarport Ervin, Prize Winner

mile ever recorded by a harness
horse.
