Elliott Assigned to Airborne Division Army Sgt. Earl E. Elliott Jr., 24, whose parents live on Outlet Road, Harveys Lake, recently was assigned to the 82d Airborne Division at F't. Bragg, N.C. A chemical, biological and radiological noncommissioned officer in the 307th engineer battalion, Sgt. Elliott entered the Army in 1966 and was last stationed in Germany. He has served in Vietnam and holds the Army Commendation Medal. The sergeant, whose wife, Maria, is with him in North Carolina, is ‘a 1966 graduate of George C. Marshall High School. Activated in August 1917, the 82nd Airborne Division par- ticipated in three major of- fensives in World War I. The renowned Sgt. Alvin C. York served under its colors. As the nation’s first airborne division, the tall Americans in World War II. Division members earned three medals of honor. The division’s 3rd brigade was deployed to Vietnam in February, 1968. Plumbers in the area are re- The Authority will meet next Luzerne County Community College Circle K Club has completed its public service project aimed at leveling the parking areas adjacent to Nesbitt Park and beneath the west end of the Market Street bridge that were ravaged by the flood waters. The area is used by many college students and workers who help ease the traffic situation by not driving their cars into central city. The parking area leveled by the Circle K members makes space available for approximately 100 automobiles. Circle K members have of red ash in their efforts to counteract the flood damage. Power equipment used in the project was donated by Howard Sprau of Shavertown. The parking area effort was part of. the overall ‘‘Attack Against = Agnes’’ project sponsored by the Dallas Kiwanis Club, Dallas High School Key Club, Penn State Vo-Tech Planners Meet at Jr. High The Planning Unit for the West Side Area Vocational- Technical School met recently at the Dallas Junior High School to discuss federal funding for vocational projects during the 1973-1974 school term. Sewer Authority Position Vacant There will be some changes on the Harveys Lake Municipal Authority, following expiration William Borton. Mr. Borton’s term expired Dec. 31, and Harveys Lake Borough Council opted to de- clare his position vacant at its adjourned meeting last Thurs- day night. Councilman William Hoblak indicated that another appoint- ment to the municipal authority would be made in the near future. Members have traveled to White Haven State Hospital and devoted many hours in wrapping gifts for patients and have collected funds to supply decorated trees to needy flood victims. Mary Mahan, art consultant for Binney & Smith, Inc. of New York, and a graduate of the Moore Institute of Art, has been named by Binney & Smith as the guest instructor for the elementary art workshop to be held at College Misericordia Jan. 9; 10, and 11. Part of a free educational service extended by Binney & Smith, manufacturers of school art supplies, Miss Mahan will conduct a workshop on the uses of crayons, water colors, poster paints, finger paints, modeling clay. Simple craft techniques will also be demonstrated, giving workshop participants the opportunity to work with paper, paste, and other materials to achieve three-dimensional effects. : Participants will learn by doing, according to Miss Mahan, by rolling up their sleeves and trying out the techniques presented. The workshop will be con- ducted in College Misericor- dia’s Art Department from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 on all three days. The workshop will be open at no charge to all area elementary art teachers and to adults who direct children’s workshop, Miss Mahan will return to the Misericordia campus to conduct a similar workshop for 50 elementary art students from the college.
