k i! TET Ar SRA me RE Dallas Senior High School Band and Mixed Chorus presented a Christmas program before gggapacity audience Dec. 17 in & senior high school Directed by Florence H. Sherwood, choral director, and Lester R. Lewis, band director, the program opened with an Miller followed by several band selections of Christmas num- bers. The second part of the program featured the senior mixed chorus in Fanfare for Christmas Day, O Clap Your Hands, Mary Had a Boy Child, a spiritual; Shepherds and Wisemeny Glory to God in the Highest. A Carol Medley by the male chorus proved popular with the audience. Soloists were Stephen Hartman and Jack Kloeber. Following African Noel with Patricia McMichael at the piano, and Carol Sing, with Julie Evans, pianist, Dagmar Moravec held the audience spellbound with her rendition of O Holy Night. Highlight of the program was the premier of Together, arranged by Ken Partchey of Chase, and John Paris Scranton, with Julia Evans and William Cutter. as soloists. Hallelujah Chorus sung by the group with Marilyn Miller at the organ and Susan Haddle at the close. The Choristers and Chan- sonaires, vocal groups of the Senior High School, have made numerous appearances prior to A special meeting was held by the Hargeys Lake Township Board of Supervisors to set the budget for 1973 at $70,848.49. Tax rate for the new year will remain the same as in 1972; seven mills, $5 per capita, Y» percent earned income, Y% percent real estate transfer and a $10 per year mechanical device tax. The board also decided to hook up to the County radio net work system. Proper equip- ment will be obtained. A check for $3,267 was re- ceived from the Revenue Sharing Fund. This will be placed in a special fund for the coming year. A reorganization and regular meeting will be held Jan. 2 at 10 a.m. in the Loyalville United Methodist Church. The Chansonaires presented their first ‘program Dec. 5 before the Back Mountain Senior Citizens at the Castle the First National Wilkes-Barre at 1 p.m. The Choristers went on their annual city tour Dec. 12 ap- pearing first at the VA Hospital where they presented their program which was broadcast throughout the entire hospital. where each student went to the patient’s rooms and personally brought them to the auditorium to hear their presentation of music. The program was also broadcast to the rooms of those patients who could not come to the auditorium. That same day, the Choristers sang on the steps of the cour- thouse rotunda standing under a huge sign which read Dallas No. 1. The voices of the students echoed from the top of the rotunda so that the students could actually hear themselves. They also sang at the United Penn Bank where they taped their music for WILK radio's Christmas program. December 13, the Choristers entertained the Amicitia Sunday School of Forty Fort United Methodist Church at their annual Christmas banquet at the Trucksville United Methodist Church Recreational Hall. On Dec. 15 they sang at United Penn Bank, Dallas, and large speakers carried their voices to people outside the presented their musical program in front of the large Christmas tree at the First National Bank, Dallas Village Center. Members of the choral groups wore their new blue choir robes with white stoles for the first time this Christmas season. The students also appear before various community and church groups throughout the year. Each test candidate will receive a test ticket, advising The cooperation of Harveys Lake motorists is being sought by members of that com- munity’s road department, reports Fred Merrill, chairman of the bhorough’s police com- mittee. The problem is poling in the borough--especially during snowstorms--and it’s a problem which is causing thec!road workers many headaches. ‘After last Friday's snowstorm, I . personally checked each of the borough’s streets,” Mr. Merrill told the Post. ‘Cars were parked along the streets in very poor fashion, and it hampered the snow plows’ progress tremendously.’ Although the borough has an ordinance which prohibits on- street parking during and following snowstorms, Mr. Merrill hopes that an informal warning to residents will be all that’s necessary to resolve the difficulty. “We hope consideration toward their neighbors and remember that if the snow plow is held up because their cars are parked along the road, it will be that much longer before their neigh- bor across the lake can be plowed out.
