Brought to College Misericor- dia by Mrs. Richard Dower of the college’s admissions office, the Christmas Madrigal is de- signed to reproduce in detail the great Christmas feasts of the English manor houses in the 16th century. Costuming is au- thentic, and the fare served is traditional for the holiday meal—prime roast rib, honied carrots, Yorkshire pudding—all served by students posing as ‘serving wenches.”’ ; The head table at the affair is manned by madrigal singers, students from Misericordia and several nearby schools, who propose toasts, announce the entrance of each main course of the meal, and entertain the guests with Christmas carols after the feast. During the dinner, wandering minstrels entertain with flute, guitar and singing. The entire effect of the even- ing is to transport the guests back to the times of lords and ladies and great holiday feasts.
