Page 20 The annual Trucksville Volunteer Fire Company Summer Fair will be bigger and better than ever before, with festivities continuing over a three-day period at the Howard ‘Duke’ Isaacs car lot in Trucksville. The fair will open June 22 and close June 24. A ‘‘Rootin’-tootin’ ’’ parade will proceed from Trucksville Gardens on Carverton Road to Route 309 and north to the fair grounds the evening of June 24. Fire trucks, antique cars, women’s auxiliaries and honored guests will participate, ‘with a large assembly of bike riders competing for prizes in the event. Joseph Menko is parade chairman. A special chicken barbecue will be held June 23 and 24 starting at 5 p.m. both evenings, according to William Long, chairman. Reservations are being handled by Richard ~ Montgomery who stated they because tickets will not be available on the fairgrounds. All reservations must be made with Montgomery by June 19. Refreshment Chairman Thomas Schmidle reports there will be the traditional ham- burgs, hot dogs, pizza, potato pancakes, cotton candy and many other snacks. Women’s Auxiliary to the company will hold a white elephant sale each day of the fair. Anyone who would like to donate items for the sale ‘is asked to call June Konek, auxiliary will also hold a bake sale June 24 starting at 2 p.m., and the sale will continue until the items are sold completely. Bake sale items will include Welsh cookies, cinnamon buns and homemade bread as well az other goodies. Pony rides and fire truck rides will be available for the children with many other games for young and old. An old fashioned dunker also assures fun at the fair. The fair opens June 22 at 6 p.m., June 23 at 5 p.m. and June 24 at 2 p.m. Publication seniors, before commencement Plans to hold commencement ceremonies out-of-doors were thwarted when the heavens ~ loosed a downpour just hours before 220 Dallas High School seniors were scheduled to graduate last Friday night. ~ Scheduled for the Dallas athletic field, the graduation - exercises were held instead in the junior high school auditorium. - Presiding over the final acti- officers Jay Donald Miller, pre- sident; William John McHale, ' vice president; Estella Jean Parker, secretary and Patricia Lee Parrish, treasurer. Bashore, an asso- ciate professor at Bloomsburg State College, was principal commencement speaker and addressed the students on ‘‘The Dignity of Man.” The class motto selected was “Farewell to the shadow of yesterday for we await the em- brace of tomorrow.’ The seniors chose purple and white as their class colors and the white rose as their flower.
