Rodgers, chairwoman for the Senior Club; and Mrs. Marvin Carkhuff, co-chairman. “The April Showers Ball”, as it has been titled, will be held April 15 at the Treadway Inn beginning at 6:15 with Dutch- treat cocktails. Dinner will be a choice of stuffed rolled steak or Cornish hen. Serving will start at 7:30. Music for dancing will be provided by the George Revy Quartet from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The chairwomen request reservations be made as early as possible. The price is $15 a couple. The College Misericordia Department of Home Economics will host the annual spring meeting of the North- eastern Extension of the Penn- sylvania Home Economics Association this Saturday, according to a college spokes- man, with all area home economics teachers invited to attend. Dr. Van Horn, a member of the faculty at Penn State University, will be guest speaker. Dr. Van Horn will also conduct a Family Living Workshop. Registration for the meeting will be held in Merrick Hall at College Misericordia at 9:30 Saturday morning. Those wishing to attend future sessions or desiring additional information may contact Mrs. Elwood Swingle, Shavertown. ‘Customer Week’ Is Set At Post Office The week of April 17-21 has been proclaimed ‘‘Meet-Your- Customer-Week’’ in the Eastern Region of the U.S. Postal Service, it was announced today by Postmaster Edward M. Buckley. “During that week, members of my staff and I will visit local business houses that deposit large quantities of mail to show them how to obtain the best possible service from their post office,” he said. Postmaster Buckley said there were several ways businessmen could speed the mail on its way and it was his intent to discuss how the proper preparation and timing of their mailings can pay substantial dividends. “By focusing on the mailing problems of one customer at a time,” Postmaster Buckley said, “we can find solutions that are tailor-made to his needs. I believe the result will be an overall improvement in the postal service for this town.” Scout Troop Hosts Father-Son Swim Boy Scout Troop 132 held a father and son swim March 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of Wilkes-Barre. Relay races were held and swimming require- ments for merit badges were practiced. Fathers and sons enjoyed a fine evening of swimming. Re- freshments were served after- wards. On March 25th, Troop 132 participated in the environ- mental project at Moon Lake with other units of the area, as part of the ecology program being undertaken in the Back Mountain area. Boyes Receives AF Scholarship Cadet Warren C. Boyes Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren C. Boyes Sr., Country Club Road, Dallas, has received a three and a half year’ U.S. Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps (AFROTC) college scholarship. Cadet Boyes will receive full tuition, laboratory fees, a textbook allowance and a monthly subsistence allowance. He submitted his application enrollment in the AFROTC training program at Lehigh University, where he is a member of the class of 1975. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to AFROTC students. Upon graduation and com- pletion of the AFROTC program, Cadet Boyes will be commissioned an Air Force second lieutenant.
