Page 18 The annual Blue and Gold Banquet of Cub Pack 281, Dallas Methodist Church, was held at the Dallas Senior High School last Wednesday evening. Toastmaster Clarke Bittner welcomed the scouts and their parents and expressed ap- preciation to all of those in- volved in the scouting program. Special thanks went to the following Den Mothers and their assistants for their help in planning and decorating for this affair: Den 1, Mrs. Lee Eckert, Mrs. James Eckerd; Den 2, Mrs. Francis McDonald; Den 3, Mrs. Walter Bronson, Mrs. Walter Chappell, Mrs. John Bogart; Den 5, Mrs. Clayton Williams, Mrs. Edward Han- nigan, Mrs. Dale Wagner; Den 6, Mrs. Clarke Bittner. Webelos leaders Lee Eckert, Ralph Ell and Willard Newberry were also recognized. Appreciation was extended to Mrs. Joseph Morton, Mrs. Walter Weir, and Mrs. Joseph Turpak for the Webelos and head table decorations and to the girls of Troop 656 who served the dinner under the leadership of Mrs. Joseph Canfield and Mrs. Edward Janosic. The in- vocation was given by the Rev. Douglas N. Akers. A special plaque was presented to Joseph Norton for his outstanding service as Cubmaster of Pack 281 from 1968 to 1971. The presentation was made by Joseph Cominsky, awards chairman. The charter was presented by Robert Dougher, Penn Mountain Council, BSA Representative. Frank Bevevino, ways and means chairman, presented awards to the top salesmen of the Tom-Wat Kits. The charge from the church was presented by the Rev. Douglas Akers to Brett Slocum; the Rev. John Prater to Glen Kozemchak; the Rev. Jule Ayers to Earl Phillips and Dave Casselberry; the Rev. Larry Saxe to Jack Cobleigh; the Rev. William Bispels to Bill and Dave Dierolf; the Rev. Laurence Beers to Jeff Me- Donald; and the Rev. Robert Yost to Dave Shelby. The rank of Second Class was awarded by Hal Sherman to Mark McCain and Chris Purcell. Walter Kozemchak presented the Star Rank to Greg Cook and Bartt Slocum. . Bruce Davies, asst. scoutmaster, presented the Top Dog inspection award to Greg Cook, Brian Jacobs, and Gary Kuras. Mr. Davies also presented merit badges to Bill Dierolf, Dave Dierolf, Jim Dierolf, Brain Jacobs, Earl Phillips, Jack Cobleigh, Jeff McDonald, Dave Casselberry, Bartt Slocum, F. J. Barry, Glen Kozemchak, Greg Cook, Dave Shelby, Art Bird, and Frank Hazeltine. John Juris, scoutmaster, made the regular presentation of perfect attendance pins and went to Dave Casselberry, Phillip Miller, Mike Muldoon, and Bartt Slocum; two year pins were awarded to Dave Dierolf, Jim Dierolf, Glen Kozemchak, and Dave Kuras; a three year pin went to Jeff McDonald. Ray Jacobs received a Gold Eagle Palm and Cliff Kozem- chak received a Bronze after Silver Palm. A Palm is awarded when a boy earns 5, 10, or 15 more merit badges than the 21 required for Eagle. Bob Casselberry acted as master of ceremonies for the evening. Rev. Akers gave the invocation and Rev. Bispels, the benediction. Ray Jacobs played Taps. Mr. Casselberry was chairman of the dinner.
