In Double Ring Ceremony
Dallas Methodist Church was
the setting last Saturday for the
wedding of Debra Ann Alex-
ander, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Donald F. Alexander, 99 Daven-
port St., Dallas, and James T.
Coburn, son of Mr. and Mrs.
James Coburn, Shavertown.
The Rev. Douglas Akers per-
formed the double ring cere-
mony.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a gown
fashioned of soft organza en-
riched with beaded Alencon
lace. Her cathedral length man-
tilla veil of silk illusion was
edged in Alencon lace and
pearls. She carried a colonial
bouquet of white roses, baby’s
breath, and white daisies with
satin streamers.
Donna Lockhart, maid of
honor, wore a deep purple
gown of Georginna over taffeta
and a white picture nat. She
carried a basket of white daisies
and purple asters with satin
streamers.

Theatre 3 Realizes Goal
The 1971 Theatre 3 benefactor!
campaign at College Miseri-
cordia concluded Aug. 11, with a
final report meeting of cam-
paign team captains. The
campaign was hailed a ‘‘great
success ’iby Louis F. Goeringer,
generafrchairman, as the
campaign went over the goal of
300 benefactors by nearly 10
percent. gthe final tally was 327
benefacto¥s registered for the
1971-72 Theatre 3 season.
Following final reports by the
12 campaign team captains, Mr.
Goeringer thanked them for
their excellent support in the
campaign. He noted that the
results exceeded last year’s by
20 percent and represented the
largest number of benefactors
in the 13-year history of Theatre
3 campaigns. Reiterating his
prediction made at the begin-
ning of the campaign, Mr.
Goeringer said that “thirteen”
really had been a lucky number
as this was the 13th campaign.
Sister Miriam Teresa, RSM,
president of College Miseri-
cordia, also addressed the team
captains and expressed her
gratitude to them and to their
team members for the success
of the campaign. The final
results exceeded her highest

bara Durkin Whalen, to Stephen

The bride-elect is a graduate
of The MacDuffie School,
Springfield, Mass., and at-
tended Briarcliff College. She
will receive a B.A. degree from
Wilkes Ccllege this month. Mr.
Kirmise was graduated from
The Hotchkiss School in Lake-
ville, Conn., and received a B.A.
degree from Princeton Univer-
sity. He is with the ™Torgan
Guaranty International
Finance Corporation in New
York City.
The wedding will take place
early next year.

Hollywood producer she knew
in High School some seventeen
years before, and the pitfalls
and hilarious frustrations of
being parents of a reluctant
bride on the day of her wedding.
The cast includes: Paul
Welsh, who has starred in pro-
duction with the National
Shakefaecare Company; Joan
Lowel\¥ well known to national
audiences for her portrayal of
Virginia Barnes on As The
World Turns; and Christina
Bartel, a New York favorite
since she entered Broadway in
David Merrick’s Carnival.

used to promote the develop-
ment of College Misericordia,
both academically and
physically.
Benefactor, patron, and
general admission member-
ships in Theatre 3 will continue
fo be available from the college
until the day of the first Theatre
3 presentation. The first
program will be The John Gary
Show, Oct. 5. Tickets to all
Theatre 3 presentations for the
year are ‘available through sub-
scription memberships only.

Their gowns were of lavendar
Georginna over taffeta. They
wore picture hats with mat-
ching ribbons and carried
baskets of flowers similar to
that of the maid of honor.
Robert Antanitis was best
man. Ushers were Eugene
Fritsky, brother-in-law of the
bridegroom, and Donald Alex-
ander, brother of the bride.
Following a reception at
Brothers Four, Dallas, the
couple left on a wedding trip to
New England.
Mrs. Coburn was graduated
from Dallas Senior High School
and .is employed by the

Metropolitan Insurance
Company of Kingston.
Mr. Coburn is a graduate of
Dallas Senior High School and
was graduated from Career
Academy, Washington, D.C.,
with a degree in dental tech-
nology. He is employed by
Lance Inc.
The bride was honored at pre-
nuptial showers given by
the attendants and Mrs. John
Fritsky at the home of Donna
Lockhart and at a luncheon
shower given by Mrs. Eugene
Fritsky.
The couple will reside at
Evergreen Estates, Sweet
Valley.
At Noxen Ceremony
The marriage of Erica
Roskoski, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Roskoski, Shaver-
town, and Thomas G. Keiper,
son of Grace Keiper, was
solemnized at the Independent
Bible Church, Noxen, Aug. 7.
Ceremony was performed by
the Rev. Warren Hathaway,
former pastor of the church.
The bride, escorted by her
brother-in-law, John Thomas,
wore a formal gown of white
satin and Venise lace, styled on
princess lines. The bodice, long
sleeves and Victorian neckline
were accented with Venise lace.
The skirt terminated into a
sweep train. Her headpiece was
a matching satin Dior bow,
attached to a full-length veil. A
bouquet of white carnations and
rosebuds was carried by the
bride.
Karen Thomas was matron of
honor for her sister. She wore a
green dotted Swiss gown and

An old-fashioned ice cream social will be held at the Maple
Grove Methodist Church, Sweet Valley Road, beginning at 5 p.m.
The menu boasts lip-smacking pork and beef barbecues, home-
made ice cream, pie, coffee and soda.

Cries of ‘‘going-going-GONE!”’ will echo again from the Leh-
man Horse Show Grounds as Chapter No. 396, Order of Eastern
Star, sponsors an auction beginning at 11 a.m.

Such frivolous—and fun—Festivities as a pie-eating contest,
bingo, and games of skill are planned for the Catholic Youth
Center’s end-of-summer festival in Nesbitt Park, Kingston. The
program will start at 2 p.m.
Sept. 3-5
The guitar strumming New Christy Minstrels will add zest to
the annual Dallas Fall Fair, to be held again at the Lehman Horse
Show Grounds. Performances by an acrobatic troupe, The Bentons,
and a crafts auction are also scheduled.
Sept. 13
A picnic lunch for Back Mountain senior citizens is scheduled
at Slocum Park, beginning at 12 p.m. Participants are asked to
bring their own lunches.
Sept. 29
Sen. Mark O. Hatfield (R-Ore.) will be principal speaker at the
opening assembly of King’s College.

Laurel M. Fiske, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Fiske; 141
Davenport St., Dallas, has been notified that she passed the
tate Board examination for registered nurses. A 1968 graduate
of Central Catholic High School, Kingston, Miss Fiske graduated
in June from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing.
She is on the obstetrical staff of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Bake Sale at Dallas Fair
Welcome Wagon Club of
Wyoming Valley held its August
board meeting at the UGI
Building, Kingston, with Mrs.
Frank English, club president,
presiding. Reports were given
by various committee chairmen
and plans were made for the
coming year’s meetings and
events.
One of the main points dis-
cussed was a fund-raising bake
sale booth at the Dallas Area
Fall Fair, sponsored by the
Dallas Rotary, Kiwanis and
Lions clubs. The fair will be
held at Lehman Horse Show
grounds, and Welcome Wagon
members are asked to bake at
least two items for the booth.
Members will also ‘be needed to
work in the booth. Those volun-
teering their services may con-
tact Kay Sigman or Sue
Covalla.
Welcome Wagon is interested
in bringing together women who
are new to Wyoming Valley.

21st Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Frank E.
Wallace, 106 Mt. Airy Road,
Shavertown, observed their 21st
wedding anniversary Aug. 12.
They were married Aug. 12,
1950 in St. Therese’s Church,
Shavertown, by the late Rev. J. °
J. O'Leary.
Mrs. Wallace is the former
Elizabeth Jane Lohman,
daughter of Hazle Lohman,
Shavertown, and the late Harry
Lohman.
Mr. Wallace is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank R. Wallace, 32
