Plains Nine Upsets Back Mt. All-Stars ‘The Back Mountain All Stars were eliminated from com- petition when they were defeated by scores of 3-2 on their home field in Dallas, and 4-2 at Plains by the Plains’ nine. The team made a valiant at- tempt to take the first game, putting a runner on third in the bottom half of the seventh in- ning, but Plains beat them out when their pitcher came through with a strikeout. In the second game, a fine play by the Plains’ third baseman with two out and the bases loaded, ended the Back Mountain boys’ try for a vic- tory. ’ Hits by the Back Mountain aggregation were collected by Jack Wolensky with three, J. Labatch, Cliff Kozemchak, Earl Monk, Steve Meskers, Andy Chacko with one each, and + Chuck Wilson hitting out two. Despite the losses, the boys played good defensive and offensive ball as the scores indicate, and fans look forward to more spirited competition next season. The efforts of both the teenage boys and the adults who gave freely of their time and ability are to be commended in bringing some good games to baseball fans of the Back Mountain area.
