PAGE EIGHT Judges named for spring art show Area artists who have entered paintings in the Wyoming Na- tional Bank's fifth annual Spring Art Show May 2-May 15 will have their work judged by three outstanding artists from the Bethlehem-Reading area. The Wyoming National has selected Charles Elliott Jr., Karol Roberts and Carol Prit- chett to make up the jury for the show to be held in the bank lob- by, 26 W. Market St., Wilkes- ‘Barre. The names of award winners will be announced May 3 with the popular vote award being made at the close of the show. Mr. Elliott, director of the Reading Public Museum and Art Gallery since 1967, has a fine educational background and a wealth of experience and travel in the art field. He re- ceived his B.A. degree from Al- legheny College where he majored in Studio Arts and Sociology; he was a watercolor student of Margaret Kerfoot, Mrs. Harry Allen has 80th birthday Mrs. Harry Allen, Harveys Lake. observed her 80th birth- day recently as guest of honor at a dinner given by her daugh- ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. I'red Swanson. April 12. Dara Crispell Mr. and Mrs. Donald Crispell, RD 1. Tunkhannock Road, Noxen, announce the birth of a daughter, Dara Lee, at Tyler Memorial Hospital, April 21. The couple are also parents of a son, Scott, 3. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William Belles, Noxen, and Mrs. Harry Crispell, Leh- man. The new baby is also the sixth great-grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Belles, Beau- mont. protege of Grant Wood. He re- ceived his M.A. from Syracuse University, majoring in Art History and Musicology. He is a candidate for Ph.D, in Art His- tory at the University of Pitts- burgh. Overseas study grants from University of Pittsburgh include Western Europe and Scandinavia: also, Latvia, Lith- uania, Russia, Poland, Czecho- slovakia, and Hungry. He received the Eben De- marst Award for advanced re- search in Nancy, France, and in 1965 was invited by the Museum Staff in Prague to attend an art symposium related to works of art discovered in Prague Castle. His experience includes posts with Lawrence College in Wis- consin and University of Pitts- . burgh; also, director of Cheek- wood Fine Arts Center, Nash- ville, Tennessee. Karol Roberts is currently teaching painting, drawing and art history at Northampton County Area Community Col- lege. She previously taught at Lehigh University and was act- ing exhibitions chairman for Lehigh Gallery. She received her B.S. in Art, Education at Moore College of Art and her Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and graphics at Pratt Institute. In 1969 she re- ceived the ‘Outstanding Young Woman of America” award. She has had one man shows in Allentown Art Museum, Lehigh University, Moore College of Art, Centenary College for Wo- men, Pratt Institute, plus ex- hibits in many group shows. Carol Prichett’s watercolors hang in many homes and gal- leries. She has studied water color and stain: glass methods extensively, including one year of study in Paris. She has ex- hibited in one man shows in New York, Washington, Bethle- hem and in Maine; also in Lon- don and Edinburgh. She pre- sently conducts watercolor classes in New York and Beth- lehem. Mrs. Prichett is a member of American Water Color Society; Women Artists of America; Woodmere Gallery; Art Al- liance of Philadelphia; Lehigh Valley ‘Art ‘Alliance. She has re- ceived many awards through- out the East and in Canada.
