Miss Diane Aston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Aston, was chosen, along with a Nes-. ~~ copeck boy on the basis of outstanding records of achieve- ment, to attend the annual ‘4-H Capital Days’ in Harris- burg April 14 and 15, as repre- sentatives of Luzerne County, a State-wide event. On the 14th, a tour of the Capital was on the agenda, and the 4-H'ers were privileged to sit in on a session of the legislature and ;. meet the top legislative repre- sentatives of their various areas of the State. That evening a ‘‘splash and swim’’ party was held for the young people. On the 15th the 4-H’ers met at a breakfast with local gov- ernment officials to discuss — local government issues and to «define to them the purpose of the 4-H educational program. The Luzerne County delegates were accompanied to Harris- burg by Mr. Alfred Skala, ~ County Extension Representa- tive. Congratulations, Diane, on receiving this honor. The American Legion Home: in Nanticoke was the scene Sunday, April 13 of a bridal shower honoring Miss Mary ~ Pauletti, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Pauletti and bride elect of Mr. Jackie Wilkes, also of Chase. Many! residents of the Chase Manor area were among the many guests at this lovely party and the bride-elect received many useful and beautiful gifts. The couple have chosen May 17 as their wedding date. Mrs. Albert Balita called to say she and Pat enjoyed their visit to Camp Hill on Saturday, April 12 for the Pennsylvania Federation of Women’s Club State judging of the winners of the district sewing contest- ants. They enjoyed a lovely day in a delightful setting and enjoyed a delicious luncheon. After lunch the girls mod- eled the costumes they had ‘made. Mrs. Balita said being a judge must have been most dif- ficult, for out of 2000 con- testants, only five winners were chosen. Pat was not one of them but was one of 18 final- ists. A beautiful engraved silver tray is the trophy she brought from Bangor, and - it is now on display at the Lake- Lehman High School. Right now Pat is making her gown for the Prom. Mrs. Balita says she ‘‘puts things together” but has learned a great deal about the art of dress making from her daughter. Through the years, Pat will not only save a lot financially, but will get a lot of personal satisfac- tion from her ability to sew so beautifully. Cub Pack 225 will hold their monthly pack meeting tonight at the firehall. The boys will come equipped with swords and shields they have made for this ‘Knights of the Round Table’’ meeting. S.3C Tim Wagner is spend- ing a ten day leave from Fort Bragg, N.C., with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Wagner, Follies Road. A meeting was held Thurs- day evening, April 17 to form an ambulance association here. The following officers were elected for a two year term: President, Don Shaffer; vice president, Chuck Cigarski; secretary, Irene Shaffer, treasurer Marge Zbick. A - charter will be obtained for the Jackson Township Ambulance Association and the area will be canvassed for donations to purchase a vehicle and equip- ment. The group will meet each Thursday evening at 7:30 at the firehall. It is hoped more interest will be generated and more people will attend these . meetings. Present at this meet- ing were Mr. and Mrs. Don Shaffer, Mr. Harold Bertram, Mr. Percy Wagner, Mr. Robert Cooper, Mr. Robert Cigarski, Mr. Carl Aston, Mrs. Henry Zbick and Mr. and Mrs. Wes- ley Lamoreaux. On April 26 a dance will be held at the firehall. The Star- fires will play. Birthday greetings this week go to Mrs. Irne Preslipski on the 25th, to Mr. Sidney Field- ing on the 27th, to Mr. Albert Ashton on the 29th, also to Cheryl Wagner and Miss Anna Manzoni on the 29th. Mrs. Fred Eck attended the Hospital Auxiliary Workshop in Hershey last week. _The Ecks had as guests over the weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Caton, Arlington, Va., who came in to see her mother, Mrs. John Eck, who is a pa- tient at Maple Hill. From all reports we hear that Kathy Munnell did an ex- cellent job in the recent Ballet. A. J. Moreck underwent eye surgery at Mercy Hospital this week. We wish him a speedy recovery. Rev. and Mrs. Ernest Stair have returned to Indiana after visiting his mother, Mrs. Lorraine Stair for a week. Just would like to comment on the lovely job done on that old Evergreen Cemetery house.
