NELLIE DORAN Mrs. Nellie Doran, 75, widow of James P. Doran, Marysville, Calif., died Feb. 21, at Fremont Hospital in Yuba City, Calif. Mrs. Doran was a former resident of West Wyoming. She had been in failing health for the past several years. A native of Nanticoke, she had spent most of her life on Cooper Hill, West Wyoming. Two years ago she moved to California. She was an active member of Stella Presbyterian Church, Forty Fort. ! She leaves three sons: Wil- lard C. Doran, Shavertown; James C., Corona, Calif., and - Harold B., Lompoc, Calif. ; six grandchildren and three great- grandchildren; a brother Alfred Cooper, Swoyerville. Rev. James H. Before moving to Harveys Lake 21 years ago, he had lived in Mehoopany for 15 years. JOSEPH GEORGE MAZA Joseph George Maza, East Center Hill Road, Dallas, was stricken with a fatal heart at- tack Saturday night at the an- nual meeting of the Toastmas- ters Club, and promounced dead on arrival at Hazleton General Hospital. He was 57 years old. A past president of the Toastmasters Club, he was at- tending the contest at Genetti’s. Last year he had won an award. Mr. Maza was one of the prominent men of Greater Wyoming Valley who set in motion the Toastmaster’s Club. There was at one time a branch in the Back Mountain. A native of Nanticoke, Mr. Maza had lived in the Back Mountain since 1947. He was educated in Nanticoke schools and held a degree from Uni- versity of Pennsylvania Whar- ton School of Business. Employment was with the U.S. Government as investi- gator for the Department of Labor in the wage and hour division. Church affiliations were with St. Paul’s Lutheran, where he was a member of the Brother- hood. He was past president of Orpheus Glee Club and a mem- ber of American Legion Post in Dallas. During World War II he served with the Navy. He leaves his widow, the former Margaret Evans of Kingston; a daughter, Mrs. G. Robert Davis of Harrisburg; a son, Dale T. Maza, of Los Angeles; three grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Mitilda Krsege, Nanticoke ; Mrs. Esther Lux, Middletown; three broth- ers: William, of Souderton; Frederick, Somerville, N.J., and Robert, Bethlehem.
