cent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton
Williams and family, Towanda.
W. Ray Stevens, Hillside, is con-
fined to his home by illness. Mr.
Williams has been ill the past two

spending a twenty-one day leave
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Harris Hill Road.
Robert recently returned from a
six months cruise of the Mediter-
ranean. He is stationed aboard
the U.S/S. Macdonough docked in
the harbor at Charleston, N. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bird and
children, Michael and Diane, Nep-
tune City, N. J., are spending a few
days with her brother-in-law and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. David Mathers,
61 Staub Road.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Williams,

a party to celebrate the fifth
birthday of: their daughter, Karen,

fant son have returned to their
home at 288 Post Road from Gen-
eral Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Harris, Lu-
zerne, will spend the weekend
with their son and daughter-in-law,

Carl Fish, 168 Meadowerest, re-
cently attended a school —onducted
by the National Cash Register Com-
pany in Philadelphia. Mr. Fish is
a student salesman for the com-
pany in the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre
district.
William Long, area representa-
tive for Continental Coffee Com-
pany, has returned from a sales
conference held in the main office

Peter Delaney and Charles Con-
den are patients at Nesbitt Hos-
pital. They’ both submitted to
surgery the end of the week.
Jay Conden, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Elwood Conden, had his appendix
removed at Wilkes-Barre General
Hospital on Tuesday night. He re-
turned home Sunday. Three weeks
ago his sister Louise underwent the
same operation. :

Mrs. Malcolm Baird returned from
Nesbitt Hospital last Monday, but
was unable to take up her duties
at school until Monday of this week.
Myra Carlin spent the Christmas
Holidays in Florida, leaving there
December 18th and returning the
11th of January. Myra rode to
Del Ray Beach, Florida with Ted
Dymond and his son, Timmie, and
was met there by her sister-in-law,
Mrs. Fred Kunckel, with whom she
lived while in Florida. Myra thinks
Florida is a wonderful place and
wouldn't mind a bit living there.
Ted Dymond and Timmie went on
to Homestead Florida to do the
usual winter farming there. Timmie
flew home by plane arriving Jan-
uary 4th in order to return to
school ‘the next day. Myra return-
ed by bus - it took just thirty seven
hours.
Adolph Hetzer, “Times Square”,
has just been retired after working
for forty-years with the Board of
Transportation in New York City.
Mr. Hetzer worked in ‘the subway
—after all that activity it is no
wonder he is finding it hard to take
it easy.
Charles Doren, who formerly lived
with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and
Mrs. Leroy Stair, has completed
his basic training with the U. S.
Coast Guard in Cape May, N. J.,
and has been transferred to Chat-
ham, Cape Cod, Mass.
Roy Moss was confined to his
home last week with a kidney in-
fection. You can’t keep a “big”
man down; he is back to work this
week.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Cyphers on their twentieth
wedding anniversary, January 26th.

clude 15 lessons and will be held
every Thursday evening at 7:30.
To graduate, one may miss no more
than two classes. Instructor is Mr.
Harold Bonham, Kingston Fire Dept.

with her sister Mrs. Margaret Aton,
who has been bed ridden with a
bad back.

Mr. Connelly’s cousin, whom they
| haven't seen in years. On Tuesday
| they plan to be in Jacksonville,
Florida, where they will spend a

ward. They will be gone about a
month.

Extends Sympathy
. The community extends symathy
to Rev. Francis Kane, pastor of Gate
of Heaven Church, whose father,
William Kane of Avoca, died at St.
Mary's Hospital in Scranton. Ad-
mitted last Thursday, the ninety-
year old man died after a short
illness.
Sympathy of the community is
extended to the family of Mrs. Wil-
liam Jones who passed away peace-
fully at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Kenneth Jackon, Beaumont;
on Friday afternoon, just about
four hours’ after returning from the
General Hospital where she had
been. ill for a long time.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vilasi, Bing-
hamton, announce the birth of a
son on January 13th. The mother
is the former Nancy MacMillan,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeddie
MacMillan. This is their third
child. They have another hey and
a girl.
Mr. and Mrs. David Coole, Debbie
and Vickie, Spencer, N. Y., visited
the Fred Cooles, on Saturday.

spending some time with her mo-
ther, Mrs. Joseph Hackling and
brother Carl.
