Junior Miss Pageant Is
Scheduled For October 24 es
President Edward 'W. Corcoran,
Shavertown, announced that the
West Side Junior Chamber of Com-
merce will conduct’ their annual
Junior Miss Pageant, Saturday, Oc-
tober 24 at Irem Temple, Wilkes-
Barre.
Hugh B. Hughes Jr., chairman of
the pageant, is hoping to have Sen-
ior girls from both Dallas High
‘School and Lake-Lehman Area Joint
Schools as contestants.
The Junior Miss Pageant’s pur-
pose is not a beauty contest, but
its purpose is to choose the Out-
ding Senior girl of Wyoming

be judged on their particular, talent,
scholastic achievement and per-
sonality.
Last year Beverly Eck, Lehigh
Street, Shavertown was chosen as
“Wyoming Valley's Junior Miss.”
Many other girls from Dallas High
School competed.
Preliminaries will be held Satur-
day evening, October 3 at Forty
Fort High School beginning at 7
p.m. All Senior girls who have a
talent of any type are invited to
be there where 15 finalists will be
chosen for the Pageant at Irem
Temple.

Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Kabeschat
: of Dallas, have returned from Cam-
E bridge, Mass., where they attended
| the 1964 M. I. T. Alumni Seminar.
. The seminar included lectures,
# | discussions, and panels, conducted
by top scientists and engineers in
the country. The theme of the sem-
“The Nature of Man.”
Dr. Harlow Shapley of Harvard,
renowned astronomer ad-
dressed the group on ‘Man Looks
“| at the Infinite.” Other lectures cov-
ered subjects such as “Man as a
Living Organism,” “Computers and
the Study of the Brain,” ‘“Langua-
ges,” and “The Science of Culture
and Science and the Human Spirit.”
A reception was held by Presi-
dent and Mrs, Julius A. Stratton,
climaxing the stimulating three
days.
Mr. Kabeschat is a graduate of
M. I. Ts School of Building Engin-
eering and. Construction.
Sandy Kabeschat went along on
the trip to Massachusetts with Mo-
ther and Dad and had a delightful
visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Botsford and daughters, Emily
and Elizabeth, at North Scituate.
The Botsfords formerly lived at
Birch Hill Lane.
