Then Huntsville upset league= leading Harveys Lake to tie the Lakers for the league lead. Trucksville vs. Prince of Peace With more than two hundred fans in attendance, the evening got off to a hectic start. Trucksville’s vie- tory over Prince of Peace would {have given the team a share of the league lead, going into the final week of play. Prince of Peace, how- ever, had other ideas. The game started out according to form as Trucksville led 40 to 28 at half time. Even the third quarter gave little warning as to what was to come, as Prince of Peace still trailed by 11 at 58 — 47. : Then the roof caved in for Truks- ville, as it scored only 11 points in 4 ville got S| {ball game and for Trucksville it the final eight minutes. It was a thriller all the way. Both teams knew that this was the game they had to win. Neither team was able | to get going in the first quarter which ‘ended in an unusually low score of 7-7. Once the second quarter began, the scoring pace picked up quickly. Huntsville’s Jack Eck and Harveys Lake's Dick Searfoss scored 8 points each in the second quarter and by half time the winners were able to build up a 4 point lead, 26-22. Huntsville "held their biggest lead going into the final quarter, 38-31. | In the next three minutes, Harveys Lake caught and passed their op- ponents and threatened to pull away in the scoring column. From this point on, the lead changed hands | with practically every basket. Al- though Huntsville was able to score only one field goal in the final quar- ter, they converted 7 out of 9 fouls and this, eventually, was the 4 ference. - The game featured an almost ob solete brand of basketball under modern day standards, good defen- sive play. Strong rebounding, stolen passes and blocked shots drew re- peated approval from the excited fans. The winners were led by Don Rome and Len Kozick, with a com- bined total of 28 points. Dick Sear- foss, one of the senior members of the league, led Harveys Lake with 15 points. Although the Lakers out- scored their opponents from the floor, 40-36, the game was won at the foul line as Huntsville converted 11 of 14 attempts while the losers could only cash in on 6 of 15 foul thies. If both Huntsville and Harveys] Lake win their final game, it will force the league into a playoff for {the championship between the twa | teams.
