THE DALLAS POST, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19, 1963
Trinity United Presbyterians
Pledge $65,000 Toward Edifice
Sunday’s Every Member Canvass,
carried out by Trinity United Pres-
byterian Church, netted the funds
needed for construction of the first
unit of the proposed edifice.
Members of the congregation of
the new church, now, numbering
175, pledged $65,000. The National
Board of Missions will contribute
$50,000 toward the structure.
The canvass was carried out un-
der supervision of Rev. Wilfred
Hasbrouck.
Rev. Andrew Pillarella says that
construction will probably start
sometime in April. Plans must first
be accepted by the congregation, as
presented by Bradford 'Alden, chair-
man of the- Building Committee.
The building site is at the top
of a long hill at the junction of
Church Street and the main road
leading to’ Irem Temple Country
Club. It affords a far-reaching view
of the area, overlooking Dallas
Junior High School and [College
Misericordia, a prime location for
the Back Mountain's newest church.
The congregation has been meet-
ing at Dallas Junior High School,
adjacent to the property acquired
for its permanent home. A large
sign marks the spot where the
building will rise.

ian Church is another milestone in
the development of the Back Moun-

handled the shop work at the Lake
Building, at first under supervising
principal George Taylor in 1952.

during World War II.
Son of Thomas and Elizabeth
Roth Longmore of Scranton, he
graduated from Millersville State
College. He moved here with his
wife, the former Martha Fray, at
the time he joined the faculty at

A Saintly Man
_ Seventh Day Adventists are tour-
ing the area, singing carols and
gathering funds. Tt used to be
George Sayre who led the carols,
George is greatly missed by every=
one in the community who mar-
velled at his saintliness. He was a
truly good man, humble as the truly
good are humble, but lighted by an
Inner radiance which was unmis-
takable .At each Christmas season
he is remembered with special love
and affection.
