Two New Elders Carry On Work
Of Instruction In Mormon Faith
Two new elders representing the
Mormon Church are installed in
, Trucksville, visiting members of the
community, and explaining the ten-
ets of the faith of the Church of
Latter Day Saints.
Mormon elders, “elder” in name
only, serve their church as mission-
aries for two years of their young
manhood, looking upon the exper-
ience as part of their education, and
financed by their families.
The two elders who were here
during the summer have been trans-
ferred to other fields. People barely
get to know the elders before they
are replaced with other young mis-
sionaries.
Elders Ralph B: and Brent
Riggs say they have been welcomed
heartily by ‘the Back Mountain, in
residents know about Mormonism.
The Back Mountain Library has
several books on the Mormons,
contribution of former elders.
Both new elders come from Cal-
ifornia, Mr. Brown from San Diego
County, Mr. Riggs from Los Angeles.
Elder Brown, having completed.
his overseas duty with the U. S.
Marines, is jnvesting his two years
with the church before embarking
on his career as a school teacher.
Elder Riggs will return to his
third year of Agricultural studies.
