A pep rally for the 16th of October
is being planned before the Exeter-
Dallas football game, Friday night,
October 18th at Exeter.
Tuesday, October 8, was the date
of the Fire Prevention Program
presented to the students and faculty
by Mr. William Wright. This con-
sisted of a film and speaker.
ROD AND GUN CLUB
- The Rod and Gun Club sponsored
by Edgar Hughes, World History
instructor, was launched into its first
year. Officers are: Jack Dodson,
president; James Richardson, vice-
president; Katherine Kenny, Sec-
retary; Harry Haas, Treasurer. The
Club will meet every second and
third Thursday of the month.
The Club will sponsor its first as-
sembly on November 27 under the
direction of Mr. Steven Kish, Direc-
State
Game Commission.
The Club will participate in a hun-
ter safety course consisting of lec-
tures and demonstrations, a three-

sent an exhibition of trick and
natural archery. This is for the bene-
fit of the club meeting held yester-
day, Wednesday, October 9.
CLASS RINGS
Class, Rings, very welcome to the
Seniors, arrived last week.
AUSTRALIA VISITOR
Dallas students are very happy to
have had Meredith Billing of Colac,
Victoria, Australia at the school.
She attended the school during the
week of October 1. In an interview,
Meredith stated she “found the stu-
dents very friendly and easy to get
along with. They are not very dif-
ferent from Australia ‘teachers, who
are always helpful”. She likes the
way students are able to mix science
and humanities in their schedule.
In her homeland, Meredith said that
they must choose Art, commercial
or science courses in their junior
year. As for our schools, she found
a ‘very good variety of modern sub-
jects. The facilities are excellent in
regards to rooms, sports, and activ-
ities”.
Meredith leaves for London and a
tour on November 16. All students |
enjoyed Meredith’s charming per-
sonality and join in wishing her
continued luck and success.
On Thursday, September 19th, the
Junior Class of Dallas Senior High
School had a meeting to elect of-
ficers of the Junior Class. Officers
elected were: president, Charles!
Higgs; vice-president, Donald Mar-
tin; secretary, Sumner Bachman;
financial secretary, Ann Woolbert;
treasurer, William Baker; sergeant-
at-arms, Douglas LaBarr and John
Phillips. Chairmen for the Junior
Dance committee are Nadine Ku-
derka and Harry Sweppenheiser.
Junior Class will sponsor a Har-
vest Hop, October 16 in ‘the Senior
High School gymnasium. from 7:30
to 10:30 p. m.
The Key Club will hold a Cider
Drive on October 19.
Initiation of the new members in
the Key Club will be held the week
of October 21.

Lake - Lehman High School
To Have Birthday Abroad
PVT. ROMAN REPOTSKI, JR.
Pvt. Roman N. Repotski, Jr., son
of Mrs. Ruth Repotski, Trucksville,
will celebrate his 24th birthday
Saturday with the Armed Services
in ‘Germany.
Stationed at Mt. Jackson, S. C.,
for his basic training, he was as-
signed to Fort Gordon, Georgia, for
Military Police training and upon
completion of advanced individual
instruction, was sent to Germany
on September 24 for a period of
one and a half years.
While stationed abroad he will
have the opportunity of traveling
to Switzerland, France, Italy and
England.
Prior to entering the Army, Re-
potski was manager of Morse Shoe
Department, Union, N. J., and was
associated with Eastman Photo Lab-
oratories, Elizabeth, N. J. .

Student director is Paula Scott.
HOCKEY
The finalists for the hockey team
were chosen on October 1st. They
were Ann Barnes, Linda Brague,
Billie Jo Brice, Susan Cheney,
Theresa Cushner, Susan Dingle,
Beverly Eck, Cynthia Galletly, June
Hayes, Janet Kelley, Nadine Kuder-
ka, Verna Miers, Marilyn Moyer,
Sally Otto, Janice Priebe, Peggy
Reese, Karen Walk, and Shirley
Zarychta.
The managers are Cathy Cawley
and Barbara Daubert, timers; and
Laura Jenkins and Jacqueline Stan-
ley as storekeepers. Substitutes are
Sharon Wagner and Sharon Wil-
liams.

National Education Development
Tests will be given to all interested
freshmen and sophomore students
Saturday, November 19, 1963. Scores
will be given in English, social stud-
ies, mathematics, natural science
and word usage, Certificates of merit
go to students ranking in the top
25 percentile of students taking the
test.
Scholarships are being offered by
the Nationa] Honor Society to mem-
bers of that organization. To be
eligible, a student must be a Senior,
a member of the National Honor
Society, and take ‘the Preliminary
Scholastic Aptitude Test at Lake-
Lehman Saturday, October 19.
The Pennsylvania Employment
Service Test was administered to 75
Seniors on Thursday and Friday,
October 3 and 4 in the auditorium.
A fashion show, sponsored by the
Lehman Women’s Club, was held in
the high school auditorium on Fri-
day, October 4. Wanda Minor, “Miss
Seventeen”, and Sandra Steele, both
Lake-Lehman students, were fea-
tured in the program. Members of
the Lake-Lehman Girls’ Atheletic
Association assisted in the check
room.
An assembly for senior high stu-
dents was held in the auditorium on
Friday, October 4. Professor Martin
J. Hudak, chairman of ‘the math de-
partment at King’s College, spoke to
the students on “Probability-a
Branch of Mathematics’.
Junior Dance
Tomorrow night the Junior Class
dance will be held in the high school
cafeteria. President of the class is
Howard Ellsworth, and class advisor
Miss Lamoreaux.
“Parents Day”, sponsored by the |
Student Council, will be held at the
Lake-Lehman vs, Edwardsville game
Saturday, November 19. Remarks
4 will be made by Mr. Squier and Mr.
Marchakitus after which parents of
the football players will be given
carnations and cigars.
Susan Fielding and Bonny Gen-
netts, Seniors were selected by the
student body to represent Lake-
Lehman as princesses at the Dallas
Rotary Fair.
Sweat Shirts
Orders for sweat shirts bearing
the official emblem of Lake-Lehman |
are being taken in the cafeteria by |
the cheerleaders. Profits made from
this project will be used to purchase
new uniforms for members of the
cheerleading squad.
The Wilkes-Barre Philharmonic
Society will sponsor a Youth con-
cert on Monday, October 28, 1963.

Lake-Lehman High School will
participate in the “Good Citizenship
Valley Chapter of the Daughters of
the American Revolution. This con-
test is open to Senior Girls who are
good citizens. In charge of this pro-
gram is Mr. Zaleskas, chairman of
the social studies department, as-
sisted by Mrs. Stolarick and Mr.
Johnson.
