Tin this week’s issue of “Science
and Math Weekly” there will be
an article on “Hydrogen Bonding”
written by our chemistry teacher,
Mr. John Sulcoski. Mr. Sulcoski
has written the experiment books
which we dare now using in Lab
class. g
Last Friday the Key Club left for
Harrisburg to attend the Key Club
Convention. During their stay the
boys went to different workshops |
and heard speakers. They returned
with the feeling that much was ac-
complished over the week-end in
helping to make our school stronger
and better through help from the
Key Club.

other Pancake Festival Saturday

stove. Tickets may be obtained
from any Key Club member.
Last week ‘the last of the year-
book pictures was taken. Mrs.
Prothero hopes that the yearbooks
will be out by the first week of
June.

Judy Bergstrasser, Sharon Phillips,
Monica Haredem, Amn Woolbert,
Susan Dingle, Stephen Farrar,
Marjorie Glahn. Mr. Evans entered
Doug Nicol. ' Awards were given
last Wednesday night at 8 at Kings
College. Stephen Farrar was one of
the top twenty of 248 students from
the 47 schools that participated.
Mr. Paul has requested all stu-
dents driving to school to please
keep their cars off the grass. Since
Spring is here, new grass is trying
to grow, but it is being tramped
down and ground up by car wheels.
Let’s try to keep our school campus
beautiful.
Reason for our not being allowed
to go out into the courtyard is that
frost has damaged the walls around
the flowers and any pressure, such
as people sitting on them, will cause
the walls to break. After this is
remedied we will be allowed to use
the courtyard.
Miss Emgler, advisor for the
cheerleaders, announced that there
would be tryouts this week. Best
of luck to all girls trying out.
On Tuesday, April 30, the F.H.A.
Club held initation service for
twenty-five girls. Since the club
was just a new chapter started this
year, it also received the charter.
Mrs.: Bronson, advisor for the
F.H.A., announced that plans are
being completed for the F.H.A. trip |
to Penn State University tomorrow.
A “Track and Field Day” will be
held” Wednesday, May 22, at 12:30
in the afternoon. There are many
activities scheduled for ‘the day,
among them broad jumps, relay
races, a tug of war and ball throw-
ing. All girls in the gym classes
will participate.
Tonight the combined choruses of
the high school will present their
“Spring Concert” under the direc-

Last week the entire senior class
competed in the Jonathan R. Davis
Volunteer Fire - Company contest.
Dear Citizen letters were written by
class members concerning the “Sup-
port of Your Volunteer Fire De-
partment.” Mr. Johnson, Mr. Ells-
worth and Miss Huttenstine judged
the one hundred letters and select-
ed Linda Gosart as the winning
letter. A $25 reward will be pre-
sented ot her.
Tomorrow evening, May 3, Lake-
Lehman High School couples will
dance to the Jack Melton Orchestra
at the annual Junior- Senior Prom.
‘The Prom will be held in the high
school gymnasium from 8:30 to
11:00. Pat Kanasky and Gary
Miers, general cochairmen and their
committees have chosen ‘Moon
| River” as the theme this year.
| On May 8 the Seniors will leave
[the high school for their annual
| Washington trip. - The trip will pro-
ceed for three days during which
time the Seniors will tour Wash-
ington, Harrisburg and Gettysburg.
Last Wednesday evening the Fu-
ture Farmers of America held their
twenty-second annual: Parent and
Son banquet in the high school
cafeteria. Guests for the evening
were Lester B. Squier, supervising
principal; John Fielding of the
board- of education; H. E. New-
comer, area supervisor, and Ross
Walker, Rotary exchange student
from Australia who is attending
Dallas Area High School. Mem-
bers of the F.H.A. and Mrs. Rood

will sing such selections as “Moon
River” and ‘Greenfields’. Solos
will be sung by David Palmer, Char-
les McCuen, Gloria Dolbear, Paula
Scott and Diane Duffy. A duet will be
sung by Gloria Dolbear and Stephen
Green. The fifth and sixth grades
elementary chorus will also sing in
the consert. A lot of work has been
put into the preparation of this
event. We hope that everyone will
come out for am enjoyable evening.

At their weekly meeting the
Journalism Club was informed of
four journalism workshops. They
will be held at Northerstern Uni-
versity, Athens, Ohio; Michigan
State University, and Syracuse Uni-
versity. These workshops may be
attended by any Sophomore or
Junior.
Last Thursday evening the Span-
ish III class, under the direction
of Mrs. Marchakitus, presented
their first “Fiesta” to parents of
the class members.
Mrs. Mildred Scruitsky, former
Home Economics instructor at
Lake-Lehman, gave birth to a son
last week. ‘Congratulations!
I am sincerely sorry for the error
in last week’s column concerning
the letter contest sponsored by the
Idetown Fire Department.
James Moyer underwent surgery
at Geisinger Hospital. He fell un-
conscious after baseball practice on
April 10 and was taken to the
{ Noxen Clinic where he was
given tests. It was found ‘that he
had a broken blood vessel in his
head. Last Monday, April 22, he
was operated on to clip the vessel
thus preventing further pressure.
It is reported that Jimmy is very
‘homesick and cards from friends
and classmates will be appreciated.
A movie entitled “Something For
Uncle Ben” was shown to the
Junior High School students on
April 23 during the activity period.
Mr. Rash, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Ed-
wards, and Mr. Marchakitus acted
as delegates for the Lake-Lehman
Area Educators Association at a
meeting of the Luzerme County
PSE.A. House of Delegates at
Hotel Redington on Thursday night.
On April 26 Miss Sullivan, one of
the advisors of the “Roundtable,”
attended a yearbook seminar at
Wilkes College. Carol Remley and
Irene Martin accompanied Miss
Sullivan as student representatives.
Achievement tests were' adminis-
tered to the seventh, eighth, and
ninth grade students on Tuesday
and Wednesday of last week.
Guild To Hold Dance
Parent-Teachers Guild of Gate of
‘Heaven School is sponsoring a dance
Friday night, May 10, at O’Connell’s
Twin Lakes.
Music will be by Joe Lawery and
his Country Club Band.
Dancing will be from 9 to 1, and
