PANEL ON DELINQUENCY
Last Sunday it was the turn of
Orange church to participate in the
Social Action clinics being held on
the charge. 'Carverton and Mt. Zion
people joined with Orange to make
this final meeting a success. There
were about 60 people attending.
Malcolm Baird was devotional
leader. The Orange choir under the
1 leadership of Marie Perrego with
Roberta Gardner at the organ pro-
vided a musical number for the
occasion. Mrs. Perrego was chair-
man of the Committee on Social
Action for Orange church and was

One fact was brought out which
needs to be remembered; it was
{stated for a fact that only 3 per
‘ cent of our young people become in-
| volved in delinquency each year,
| and that 90 per cent of our chil-
dren will never be classed as de-
linquent. In Pennsylvania only such
young people as are booked in
courts as delinquents can be called
juvenile delinquents. In our Back
Mountain region we do not have
juvenile delinquent problems, al-
though we have now and then what
can be called incidents. In other)
words, delinquency is not a habit
in our neighborhood. But church
people are being alerted to every
possible program ‘to help prevent
delinquency.
Idetown
W.S.CS. met in the church house
{on Wednesday night with Mrs.
George May presiding. Mrs. Roswell
Frederic led devotions. Hostesses
were Mrs. Emory Hadsel, Mrs. John
Race, Mrs, Hope Ide, Mrs. Ernest
Fritz. Elisa Gillmann gave the miss-
ionary lesson. Rea Tiffany read a
chapter of the study book on For-
mosa. A letter was read from Esther
Russell. Present were Mrs. George
May, Mrs. Roswell Frederic, Mrs.
Mary Rogers, Mrs. Corey Meade,
Mrs. Libbie Smith, Mrs. Elisa Gill-
man, Mrs. John Race, Mrs. Emory
Hadsel, Barbara Williams, Mrs.
Bruce Williams, Mrs, Kenneth Cal-

Ehrgott and the Arnold Yeust fami-
ly on the death of Mrs. Gustav
Ehrgott on Thursday.

been confined to her home for the
past week with the flu.

week with the flu. ’

tient in Nesbitt Hospital.
Mr, and Mrs. Fred Schray, Jr.
and family, Havertown, spent (Sun-
day visiting Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Schray, Sr., Harris Street.
Mr. and Mrs. William Holeman,
daughter, Lisa, E. Overbrook” Aven-
ue, spent a few days in Philadelphia
last week to attend the funeral of
Mr. Holeman’s brother-in-law. Mrs.
Holeman and Lisa recently spent a
few days with friends in Mechanics-
burg.
Mrs. George ‘Shaver, Sr., Trucks-
ville, was guest of honor on Sun-
day at a family birthday dinner at
the home of her son, George Jr. E.
Overbrok Avenue. The heart Shaped
birthday cake said “Happy Birth-
day Grandma” and was decorated
in green and white. Enjoying the
dinner were, George Shaver, Sr.;
kins, Rev. and Mrs. Norman Tiffany
and Bess Cooke.

Lehman - Idetown 'and Jackson
Methodist churches, met at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Oncay

Some ladiés in Lehman have been
spending the winter making hooked
rugs. The group met last week at
the home of Mrs. Edwin Wright. If
anyone is interested in joining this
group contact Mrs. Charles Nuss,
Lehman.
Thomas Elston, son of Mrs. Alice
Elston, is home on leave from La-
spezia, Italy, where he was sta-
tioned in the Armed Forces.

and a Gold arrow. Mr. Harold Maye

turned from General Hospital where
she was admitted for diagnosis. She
is now convalescing at her home.
