Olive A. Eggleston
Funeral Saturday
Mrs. Olive Austin Eggleston, 72,
died at her home in Vernon Wed-
nesday morning shortly after mid-
ight, putting a period to a thirteen
year illness, in which she was
almost completely paralyzed, but
unfaiingly cheerful.
She will be buried [Saturday at
2 p. m. in Tunkhannock. Friends
may call at he Sheldon Funeral
Home Friday afternoon and even-
ing, 2 to 5, 7 to 9. Rev. William
F. Watson, pastor of Center oMre-
land Methodist Charge, will officiate.
Mrs. Eggleston, widow of the late
Clyde Eggleston, who died three
years ago, used her one good arm
to keep track of the records for
fruit-pickers, helped with the book-
keeping, and kept her finger on the
family fruit-growing business, now
in the sixth generation of Vernon
Egglestons. And far from being
depressed by her physical helpless-
ness, she was the port in a storm
for many friends who needed en-
couragemet or a word of advice.
She was born in Kunkle, daugh-
ter of the late William Thompson
and Adelaide’ Ryman Austin. She
was educated at Monroe Township
Schools. Two brothers have been
school supervisors, William A. Aus-
tin, former supervisor of Monroe
Township, - presently elementary
supervisor for Dallas Schools; and
the late E. Raymon Austin, super-
visor for over thirty years at Laurel
Run.
Surviving are: her daughter, Mrs.
C. H. Besteder, RN, Tunkhannock
R. D. 5; a son Alva Eggleston, Ver-
non, prominent fruit-grower; two
grandchildren Robert and’ Mary
Eggleston; her brother William A.
Austin.
