Patty Huey, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Huey, Overbrook Avenue
underwent a tonsillectomy at Nesbitt
Hospital on Monday.
Mrs. Irene V. Blessing, Dallas, a
resident at Maple Hill Convalescent
Home was taken to Mercy Hospital
on Monday in the Kingston Town-
ship Ambulance, manned by Ted
Poad and Willard Bullock.

weekend guests, Mr. and Mrs. Ed-
ward Jacobus and daughter, Jan,
of Milford, Conn.; Mr. and Mrs.

Dayton Long and Bob Williams,
Wilkes College Seniors, have com-
pleted their practice teaching, Day-
ton at Chester Street School, Bob

Bess Klinetob, Sweet Valley, had
as guests over the weekend Ida and
Olwen Rosser, old friends.
Mr. and Mrs. George Landon,
Kunkle, and Mrs. David Jones and
Diane, Pittston, spent last week in
Bordentown, N. J. as guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Hilbert. Mrs. Hil-
bert recently submitted to surgery.
Alfred G. Davis, Birdsboro, Pa.,
spent the Thanksgiving holiday and
Weckond with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. William Davis, Elizabeth
Street. Al is a member of the fac-
ulty at Twin Valley Jointure High
Wichool in Morgantown.
Mrs. William . Clifford, Jackson
Street, has returned to her home,
after submitting to surgery at Gei-
singer Medical Center, Danville.
Marty Noon, 10 year old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Noon, Parrish
Street was admitted to the Mercy
Hospital, after suffering a fractured
elbow, while playing football with
some of his friends. Dr. H. G.
Gallagher was attending physician.
Word has been received by neigh-
bors of Henry Welch, Davenport
Street, that he has arrived safely
in Florida where he will spend the
winter.
Mrs. Joseph Schneider, has re-
turned to her home on Davenport
Street, after submitting to surgery
LO the Nesbitt Hospital. She is
making a good recovery,
Specialist 4 Thomas Sieber, son
a Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sieber,
Main St., Shavertown is spending a
fifteen day furlough with his parents.
Tom is stationed at Fort Bragg, North
Carolina with the United States

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gerlach,
Roushey Street, Fernbrook cele-
brated their forty-third wedding an-
niversary on Wednesday, December
5. They were married in St. Paul's
Lutheran Church by Dr. Peter
Wholsen.
Mrs. Gerlach is the former Eliza-
beth Smith of Wilkes-Barre. Her
husband is also a former city native.
They have been residents of ‘the Back
Mountain for thirty five years.
The couple has two children, Mrs.

Celebrate 43rd Anniversary
Walter Gosart, Shavertown and Wal-
ter Gerlach, Jr., Cleveland, Ohio.
There are six grandchildren, Wal-
ter, Jr., Jimmie and Allan Gosart,
Randy Jean, Lynne and Marcy
Gerlach.
The Gerlachs are members of St.
Paul's Lutheran Church and act as
its custodians. Mr. Gerlach formerly
was a butcher in the meat depart-
ment at Gosart’s Market and for the
war years worked at the Vulcan Iron
Works.

Machell Avenue, entertained Mrs.
Davies’ niece, Sharon K. Samuels,
at a dinner, at S & B Restaurant,
Wilkes-Barre, Sunday.
Miss Samuels will marry Thomas
J. Bloomer of Kingston on Decem-
ber 29.

Thomas J. Bloomer, parents of the

Lisa Jean Naugle
Mr. and Mrs. William Naugle, Jr.,
Sweet Valley, announce the birth
of their second child, Lisa Jean, at
General Hospital on November 27.
She weighed sevén pounds and eight
ounces. :

Mrs. Naugle is the former Caro-
lyn Wisneski, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Theodore Wisneski, formerly
of Lake Silkworth, now of Florida.
Patti Jo Rogers
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Rogers,
50 East Franklin Street, Shaver-
town, announce the birth of a
daughter, Patti Jo, October 11, in
Nesbitt Hospital. She weighed five
pounds fourteen ounces. Mrs. Rog-
ers is the former Arlene Kreiner,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dod-
son, Fernbrook. Mr. Rogers is son
of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rogers, Har-
veys Lake.
The Rogers have another daugh-
ter, Linda Ann, 18 months.

Paul Precone
Paul Precone, infant son of Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Precone, Over-
brook Road, R. D. 2, Dallas, was
christened on November 25 in St.
Therese’s Church by Father Brennan.
His God-parents were Mr. and Mrs.
Michael Silic.
A dinner followed at the family
home. Attending were: Mrs. Rose
Precone, Mr. and Mrs. Michael
Silic, Antoinette Precone, Marie Pre
cone, Vicki Precone, William Pre-
cone, Mike, Joseph, Rose Ann, and
the host and hostess.
Mrs. Corey Besteder and daughter
Karen, accompanied by Al Stash,
spent Thanksgiving with Richard
Besteder, a senior at Johnson Bible
College, Knoxville, Tennessee.
Mrs. William Robbins, Trucks-
ville, has returned from Geisinger
Hospital after submitting to surgery.
She will be recuperating for the
next six or eight months. She
would enjoy visitors.
Mrs. Stephen Waldow, Mt. Airy
Road, is a patient in Nesbitt Hos-
pital.
Debbie Gosart, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Gosart, Overbrook Ave-
nue returned on Sunday from Nes-
bitt Hospital. Her condition is good
with the doctor advising rest for
another week. She struck her head
when she was /knocked down by the
school bus near Shavertown Grade
School last week.

Arthur Kiblers Return
From 9,000 Mile Trip
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kibler, Nox-
en, have returned from a 9,000
mile trip to Washington State,
where they visited their son Miles,
a student at Walla Walla College,
majoring in Business Administra-
tion. Miles was a victim of an
automobile accident recently.
They also visited Dr. Ernest
Montross, son of Mr. and Mrs, Floyd
Montross of Noxen, who is a dental
surgeon in California, the Morman
Tabernacle in Salt Lake City; saw
theatres cut in rock at altitudes of
11,000 feet, in use. Also the Loma
Linda, California, which is a new
church and holds two services in
order to accommodate all the
parishioners. 3
They reported a bad accident in
Texas, which claimed five lives, as
well as several less severe ones,
although they had no trouble on
their entire trip.
Mz. Kibler says he has a deep
desire to return to the West after
this five week tour.
Todd Robert Edwards
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edwards,
Quakertown, Pa., announce the
birth of a son, Todd Robert on No-
vember 30 at Quakertown Hospital.
Mr. Edwards is son of Mr. and
Mrs. Howard Edwards; Carverton.
He is a teacher in the Palisades
School Jointure, Kitnerville, Pa,
The baby’s mother is the former
Phyllis Crocker, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Carl Crocker, Trucksville
Gardens.
This is the first grandchild for
the Howard Edwards and the fourth
for the Crockers. Both sets of grand-
parents traveled to Quakertown
over the weekend to see the new
arrival.
Scott Roy Bohlander
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bohlander,
Lake Street, Dallas announce the
birth of a son, Scott Roy on Sun-
day, December 2 in General Hos-
pital. The baby weighed seven
pounds, three ounces. Thisf is their
first child.
Mrs. Bohlander is the former
Naomi Shaver, R.N., daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Claude Shaver, Dallas.
Mr." Bohlander is the son of Mrs.
Lottie Bohlander, Wilkes-Barre.
Curt Douglas Sedler
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Sedler,
former residents of Jackson Street,
now of Randellstown, Md., announce
the birth of a seven pound three
ounce son, Curt Douglas. He ar-
rived November 23, at Lutheran
Hospital. There are three other
children, Carol, Craig and Sandy.
Mrs. Sedler’s parents and sister,
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Ide and Mrs.

MRS. PHILIP WHITE
At a pretty fall wedding, Satur
day, October 20, Faith Elaine Ed-
wards, daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. D. L. Edwards, Trucksville,
became the bride of Philip B. White,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip A. White
of Meshoppen. The ceremony was
performed at noon in St. Joachin’s
Church, Meshoppen.
The bride, given in marriage by
her guardian, Howard W. Risley,
Dallas, wore floor length gown of
white brocaded satin en train, styled
with tight bodice, scoop neckline
and long tight sleeves tapered at
the wrist. Her fingertip veil fell
from a pill box studded with pearls
and she carried a bouquet of white
carnations, orchids and baby’s
breath. She wore a strand of pearls,
gift of the bridegroom.
Maid of honor was Mary E. White,
sister of the bridegroom of Meshop-
pen, bridesmaids were Margaret L.
Churchill, Caldwell, N. J., Nancy E.
Rosenfeld, Stepney, Conn., and Mrs.
William P. Lloyd 3rd of Drexel Hill.
They all wore knee length dresses
of lime peel velvet fashioned with

shoes matched their gowns and they

Meeting Set For Dec. 11
At an executive board meeting
held Monday afternoon at Dallas
Methodist Church, the Christmas
meeting of Dallas WSCS was set for
December: 11 at 7:30. Mrs. Ralph
Marshall and Mrs. Lawrence Britton
were designated as greeters.
Mrs. Raymon Hedden, chairman
of hostesses, will be assisted by
Mesdames William Baker Sr.; Louise
Brown, Peter D. Clark, Gerald Dett-
more, Clyde Veitch and Leslie War-
hola. Program will be in charge |
of Intermediate MYF.
Present at the board meeting
were Mesdames Charles Hosler,
Lawrence Britton, David Evans,

Best man was Hall A. Kellogg,
Pasadena, Md., former classmate of
the bridegroom at Wilkes College,
and ushers George Brubaker, Phil-
adelphia; William P. Lloyd 3rd,
Drexel Hill, and Jerry Berk, Wilkes-
Barre, former classmates at Wilkes.
Following the ceremony a recep-
tion was held at the Shadowbrook
Country Club and the couple left
for a honeymoon at Miami Beach,
Fla. They now reside at 411 Church
Lane, Yeadon, Pa.
Mrs. White is a graduate of
Wilkes Barre Day School, Wyoming
Seminary and Wilkes College. She
is presently employed as administra-
tive secretary and translator for the
International Commission of the
U.S. National Student Association in
Philadelphia.
Mr. White was also graduated
from Wilkes College. He is employed
by the U.S. Food and Drug Adminis-
tration in Philadelphia.

Visited By Local Lodge
‘Wednesday evening, members of
Lady Toby Rebekah Lodge, follow-
ing the business meeting went to
the home of Mrs. William J. Robbins,
Stoub Road, who recently under-
went spinal surgery in Geisinger
Hospital. The monthly birthday
party was held. Honored were:
Myrtle Rineman, Maude Yeisley and
Delores Trumbower. Present were
Leona Naugle, Jennie Shaver, Mary
Shaver, Helen Nunn, Mabel Mitchell,
Hattie LaBar, Ruth Shupp, Mildred

Charles H. Long and children,

ley, entertained at a surprise birth-
day dinner-party at Steele’s Restau-
rant, Mooretown, honoring Mrs.
Long, whose birthday occurred on

her mother was three-year-old Mir-
alee Beth, her birthday being on
November 30. Two birthday cakes

Book Club To Hear
The Other Wise Man
The Story of the Other Wise Man
will be the featured attraction at
the December meeting of the Book
Club, scheduled for December 17 at
2 in Back Mountain Memorial Li-
brary Annex. Mrs. Robert Deeble
of Shavertown will give the read-
ing of one of the most beautiful
Christmas stories ever written, ever
new, published decades ago by
Henry VanDyke, but still as appeal-
ing as when itwas first off the press.
Three Drust Children
To Celebrate Birthdays
Three children of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph J. Drust, Monroe Avenue,
will mark their birthdays at a joint
celebration on Saturday. They are:
Joseph Marvin Drust, twelve, in the
seventh grade at Gate of Heaven,
whose birthday falls on the actual
date; Eugene George Drust, in the
fourth grade, who will be nine on
Sunday; and Maryann Debra Drust,
in the first grade, who will be six
years old on Friday, December 14.

Wilbur Davis, Dallas was surprised
last Wednesday, when friends drop-
ped in to help celebrate his 16th
