Now it is Alden Dietz. of Beaumont who will launch the drive for funds, accompanied by volunteers. No matter what your creed, be gen- erous when these dedicated people come ‘to your door. They do a tremendous amount of good. Mr. Sayre was a saintly man whose face radiated his inner good- ness. When he died, thé entire community mourned his passing. It is so seldom that a man is so com- pletely loved by everybody. Men gain prestige and wealth, but love is hard to come by. And such men are impossible to replace. When you hear the carols outside your door, open it wide, and enjoy the privilege of helping others less fortunate than you. Statistics are dull reading, but in case of the Seventh Day Adventist Christmas '. efforts they are truly staggering. The congregation in Beaumont goes quiety about its business of re- lieving suffering wherever it finds it with no regard for creed, only regard for need. On a world basis, volunteer Ad- ventist workers in 1961 gave 7,593,- 047 hours in welfare services to 7,179,073 persons. More than $1,- 545,000 in cash, some 6,706,394 articles of clothing, and 4,192,288 food = baskets were contributed. Nearly 50 per cent of this aid was given in North America. Seventh Day Adventist members themselves contributed more than $99,902,355 last year toward the support of their World Church pro- gram, in addition to welfare ac- tivities. The Adventist Church supports two large East Coast and West Coast depots for overseas shipments of relief goods to needy areas. Church officials in those countries direct distribution of the aid to persons of every race and creed. Requiem Mass Draws Throng David Gildea Was Brother Of Dean A High Mass of Requiem for David B.
