4 Theuligllée fo Twenty-One, September 6
Pvt. Roy Crawford, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Leonard Crawford, Meeker,
celebrated his 21st birthday anni-
versary on September 6 while at
Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Pvt. Crawford is currently serv-
ing his six month active duty
training as part of the Army Re-
serve program. He is enlisted in the
195th Ordinance Co., East End.
He was graduated
Lehman in 1960.

Lehman Woman's: Club Meets
To Hear Talk On Literature
Lehman Woman's Club met Wed-
nesday at the Fire Hall and heard
Mrs. Joseph Ryan Jr. representing
Luzerne County Citizens for Decent
Literature talk. She and Mr, Petroski |
| Steele, Robert Disque, Thomas Hill-
will return for the October meeting
and show a film.
A bingo party will be held October |
19, 8 p.m,, in Lehman Fire Hall. Mrs.
Francis Fertal, chairman, asked all
members to bring gifts for the bingo
at the next meeting. Co- chairman

Has 80th Birthday Party
Miss Florence Frear, guest at the
Carpenter Convalescent Home, Ide-
town, was pleasantly surprised on
her eightieth birthday anniversary
when her one hundred year old
aunt, Callie Parrish of Beaumont
dropped . around to sing “Happy
Birthday’.
With her were Mr. and Mrs.
Mowry Matthews, Joyce and Mar-
lene, Mrs. Gladys Hosier, George,
Ruth, Myron, and Janet Shalata,
choir members of Bowman's Creek
Free Methodist Church, who played
the accordian, sang hymns, and
prayed with the guests, all but three
of whom are over eighty.
All had a delightful afternoon
playing games, crocheting and visit-
ing. The guest of honor received
lovely gifts,

given by Mr .and Mrs. Lewis Ferrey
at their home at Mooretown Sep-

Johnson Corey Miers 3rd
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson C. Miers,
77 Perrin Avenue, Shavertown, are
proud grandparents of a beuncing
baby boy, born September 6 at the
U. S. Army Base Hospital, Fort Le-
roy Johnson, New Orleans, La.
Mrs. Miers is thé former Judith
Winans of Wyoming where Sgt.
Winans serves with the Police Bar-
racks. The new baby, Johrson
Corey Miers 3rd is in an incubator,
being bern prematurely. His Dad
is on special duty with the Army
for several weeks.
This is the first grandchild for
both the Miers and the Winans.
Both mother and baby are doing
nicely.
Will Return From Okinawa
Captain Ellen Nehr, stationed on
Okinawa as Comptroller with the
51st Air Base Group since January
of 1961, will return in November
to Chase. Her parents are Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Gibbons, Chase.
Walter Davises Visit
Old Dallas Neighbors
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Davis, Daven-
port Street, spent some time last
week, visiting Mrs. Irvin Karns, Cres:
sona, Mrs. Karns, with her late hus-
band, were former Dallas residents
and operated a Fish Market, on a
site near Kuehn's Drug (Store. There
were three children, Tommy, Peggy,
and Pat. Tommy died at three with
lukemia; Peggy is now Mrs. Earl
Kirchner, she and her husband own
and operate a cranberry farm and
processing plant, in New Jersey. Pat,
is Mrs. William Hough, of Cressona,
Peggy has five children and Pat has
three. Mrs. Karns owns and operates
. "a restaurant at Cressona Corners.

Plans Rummage Sale
Dallas Junior Woman's Club will
stage 'a rummage gale October 4,
5 and 6 at the Lare building in
Luzerne, for the benefit of the
scholarship fund. Residents having
rummage may have it picked up by
calling Mrs. William Hanna for
the Dallas area; Mrs. Evan Bona-
witz for Shavertown; or Mrs. Mer-
ton Jones for Trucksville.

Fashion Show And Cards
