ing at her home on Parrish Street
after spending seven weeks at Mercy
Hospital.
Mrs. Edward Tutak, Water St.,
entered Geisinger Medical Center for

fifty guests attended.
Mrs. Rose B. Lubinski, Loyalville,
celebrated her eighty-second birth-
day anniversary in March with a
family dinner held at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Luther Hum-
mel.
Mrs. Lubinski came to the States
from Germany when she was eight
years - old and settled with her
family in = Nanticoke where her
father worked in the mines. She
was twice married, both times to
miners. After the death of her first
husband, Valentine, who was killed
in the mines, she married Joseph
Lubinski and moved with him to
j the Obidiah Davenport farm at Loy-
alville. That was forty-five years ago.
She now keeps house for Henry
Trumbower at Loyalville.
She loves house hold chores, still
bakes a mighty fine cake and loaf
of bread, and keeps a pretty neat

home. Evenings and weekends; she
catches up on her reading or fin-
ishes a patch work ‘quilt for one |
of her eight children, forty-thrze
grandchildren, or fifty-seven zreat-
grandchildren.
Surviving of her eight children
by her first marriage, are five, Jack
and Blanche, now Mrs. Stanley
Pietruska, South River ,N. J., Jo-
sefa, Mrs. Luther Hummel of Loy-
alville, and Margaret, Mrs. W. Wala-
cavicz and Viola, Mrs. John Naj-
aka of Glen Lyon; there are also
three Lubinskis, Clara, now Mrs.
George Miller, Petersburg, Va.
Theodora, now Mrs. Leland Grey of
Loyalville and Bud.
Her friends of almost half a cen-
tury in the Back Mountain Area
say ‘Happy Birthday, Rose.” We
hope you'll live to enjoy many
many more of them.
Kimberly Anne Pierson
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Pierson,
Huntingdon Valley, Pa., announce
the birth of a baby girl, Kimberly
Anne, at Abington Hospital on
March 1. The Piersons have two
other children, Freddie, eight and
Linda, three.
Mrs. Pierson is the former Anne
Jennings, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Jennings, Norton Avenue, Dal-
las. Mr. Pierson is son of Dean
Pierson and the late Mrs. Pierson
of Scranton. He is associated with
Ji Electric.
Grandma Jennings is in Hunt-
ingdon Valley helping take care of
‘Anne and the children.
Randy Joseph Burczyk
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Burczyk,
1215 Market $St., Nanticoke, an-
nounce the birth of their first child,
a son, Randy Joseph in Nesbitt
Hospital on March 10. He weighed
6 lbs.
Mrs. Burezyk is the former Carol
Fitzgerald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Fitzgerald, Hill St, Fern-
brook. This is the first grandchild
for the Fitzgeralds. Mr. Burczyk is
son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bur-
czyk of Nanticoke. Randy makes
number 3 for them.

married Robert H. Spare, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Spare, Wyom-
ing R. D. 3, February 10 at 7 p.m.

the ceremony before an altar
flanked with tall white tapers and
vases of white chrysanthemums.
Attendants were Mrs. Elizabeth
Earl, of Wyoming, sister of the
bride, and Gale Spare, brother of
the bridegroom.
Following the ceremony, a recep-
tion was held at the Wyoming In-
stitute and the couple left for Mi-
ami and Palm Beach, Fla.
The bride is a graduate of Wyom-
ing High School. Mr. Spare was
graduated from Westmoreland High
School.

' Mrs. Clayton Edwards, Mrs. Rich-
ard Thomas and Robert Adams ent-
ertained at a surprise birthday party
on March 5, honoring their fath-
er, Andrew Adams, Sweet Valley,
who observed his fifty-sixth birth-
day. A beautiful three layer birth-
day cake was baked by Mrs. Ed-
wards who was assisted in the dec-
orating by Mrs. Thomas. Color

Craig who comes from Manchest-
er, Conn., is active in many col-

The Cub Scouts of Troop 444,
Sweet Valley, held their annual
Blue and Gold Banquet on Feb-
ruary 27, at Maple Grove Methodist
Church Hall, Pikes Creek. Decor-
ations were carried out in blue and
gold, favors were tiny patriotic hats
filled with candy, which were made
by the cubs. Silhouettes of the
nedy formed a background for the
speaker's table. The silhouettes
were the Cub’s project. Charles
Perkins presented the Pack with a
ladder, the rungs of which de-
picted the steps a cub must take
to become a Scout. Centerpiece on
the speaker's table was a large cake
decorated in blue and gold, baked
and decorated by Mrs. Freida
Graham and Mrs. Eleanor Bronson.
