Supervisor Candidate
Louis Ranier is a candidate for
Kingston Township Supervisor, run-
ning on the Republican ticket.
Mr. Ranier knows what it is to
live on a limited budget. When he |
was ten years old, as a Scranton boy, |
he left school for a time to work in
the breakers, netting himself fifty
cents a day and a thrashing from
his father, a contract miner, for in-
terrupting his education. He went
back to school, but abandoned for-
mal education entirely when he was
fourteen. :
Mr. Ranier typifies the many peo-
ple in the area who must live on a
fixed income of modest proportions,
who own homes; and who view with
alarm the recent and continuing sky--
rocketing of taxes.
In 1947 he gathered names for a
petition to keep taxes down.
Mr. Ranier attends most of the
Dallas School Board meetings.
He has lived in the Back Moun-
tain since 1924, working for the
Kingston Coal Mine until it closed
in 1939; later for the Glen Alden,
and for the Penn Tobacco Com-
pany. In 1950, he retired.
He recollects that he volunteered
for military training with the Na-
tional Guard during World War I
when placed in a deferred classifi-
cation, and won a medal for marks-
manship thé first time on the rifle
range. .
i ience, he says is acquired only after.

VERN PRITCHARD
FOR
TAX ‘COLLECTOR
We Republicans proudly support Vern Pritchard for Tax Collector, because as a
lifelong Republican, Vern has served as committeeman and has done a wonderful job.
This was indeed due to his loyalty and his sincerity in his untiring efforts on the party’s
behalf. He has been a property owner for over -thirty years. He is married to the
former Ruth Perkins of Trucksville and is the father of three children. Vern has proven
his. sterling leadership by being most active in community affairs and has given gener-
ously of his time and ability in youth movements. In Fact he has always had a burning
pride in the youth of our township and is a most active member of the Adult Club and
Scout movements. He was one of the founders and a charter member of the Back Mt.
Little League Baseball and for ten years served as Treasurer of that organization. For
"16 years Vern ‘was employed as a salesman for Woodlawn Dairy. Two years ago, how-
ever, he became seriously ill and was bedridden for nine months,
Yes, Vern Pritchard: over the years, has extended many acts of hides and has
given many hours of help to our boys and their problems. For this, we are most grate-
ful and will show our gratitude by voting for Vern Pritchard for Tax Collector.
