Mrs. Henry Eustice, Mt. Zion, suf-
fered a stroke on Easter Sunday,
and was admitted to Pittston Hos-
pital by ambulance. She remains
in a coma.
Blain Stackhouse, Outlet, is a
patient in Mercy Hospital. He will
be glad to have old friends call.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nulton, Har-
veys Lake R. D. 1, have announced
the birth of a baby boy at General
Hospital on April 7.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baird, Terrace
Street, Trucksville, have announced
the birth of a baby girl at Nesbitt
Hospital on April 2.

Lunch At Country Club
The Irem Women golfers opened
the season with a luncheon at the
Country Club on Friday. Mrs. Ho-
ward S. Jones was luncheon chair-
man, Mrs. Henry N. Davis, assisted
by Mrs. Harry Pethick had charge
of the table decorations which con-
sisted of bowls of Spring flowers.
The decorating committee also pro-
vided the prizes at the card -tables.
Mrs. Paul L. Gross, -Golf Chair-
man, presided over the meeting

whom also said a. few words in

The golf course will not be opened
until the weather permits, however
the Annual meeting will be held on
April 14th, 10 a.m. in the Women’s

Richard Paterson, Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Paterson,
Sutton Road, Trucksville, have an-
nounced the birth of a seven pound,
eleven ounce baby boy, Richard, Jr.,
at General Hospital on April 7. They
have a daughter, Julie, aged one
and a half.
Mrs. Paterson is the former Sally
Ide, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clin-
ton Ide of Huntsville. Mr. Paterson
comes from Ohio. He is associated
wh Clint in Carrier Corporation.

Mrs. Emma Franklin Is
Eighty-Seven On Tuesday
Mrs.
brate her 87th birthday next Tues-
| day. ‘She would appreciate cards
written to her at Apartment 8, Al-
lan Village, Endwell N.Y.
During this past winter, Mrs.
Franklin and her son William left
| their home at Red Rock because of
the severe weather, and took an
| apartment closer to Mr. Franklin’s
|awork with IBM. They expect to re-
turn to Red Rock as soon as the
| weather moderates.
Mrs. Franklin, for many years a
| resident of Franklin, Street Dallas,
| suffered an accident some years
| ago, which made wearing of a brace
{on her leg a necessity. Except for
this handicap, she is in reasonable
| health.
‘Have Baby Boy
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
William Connors, Ferguson Avenue,
Shavertown, on the birth of baby
boy at Wyoming Valley Hospital on
April 4. The couple has four other
children, Kathy, Billy, Michgel and
Jimmy.
Mrs. Conners is the former Phyl.
lis Sletterink. Mr. Connors'is affili-
ated with the Bell Telephone Com-
pany.

Engagement Is Announcéd
Mr. and Mrs. John C. Ferenbach,
Johnson City, ‘Tenn., former Har-
veys Lake residents, have an-
nounced the engagement of Mrs.
Ferenbach’s daughter, Louise Shin-
del Bertels to Carr Bolton Aber-
nethy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
H. Abernethy of Johnson City. Miss
Bertels is daughter of William Ber-
tels, Huntsville.
Miss Bertels, graduate of Wyo-
ming Seminary Day School and
Mount Vernon Seminary, is a mem-
ber of the Senior Class at Univer-
sity of Wisconsin. Mr. Albernethy is
a member of the Senior Class at
Georgia Technological Institute.

To Service Club
Mrs. Theodore Heness, Club Mem-
ber and a former Deaconess of the!

the meeting of the Harveys Lake
Women’s Service Club held at the
School last Thursday. She told of
her training, mission and social
work at Harrisburg and Tacoma,

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shiber, Married
Fifty Five Years On Tuesday
One of the best loved couples in
Dallas, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shiber,
Center Hill Road, will celebrate their |
fifty-fifth wedding anniversary
quietly at their home on Tuesday.
Mrs. Shiber is the former Clara
Gillman, daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Jake Gillman. ‘The Gill-
mans owned and operated a butcher
shop at the corner of Grove and
Brown Streets, Wilkes Barre. Mr.
Shiber is son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. George Shiber, North Wash-
ington Street, Wilkes Barre. The
couple was married in the Center- |
moreland Methodist parsonage by |
the Rev. Mr. McDermott, April 18,
1906, and went to housekeeping in |
Wilkes Barres where Mr. Shiber
worked as pressman for the Wilkes
Barre Record. They had one son
who died when he was three +— if
he had lived, he would be fifty
three.
About thirty seven years ago, Mr.
Shiber and his half brother, Clyde
Veitch, contractor, built two homes
on ‘Center Hill Road and the Shi-
bers moved into the one they now
occupy.
When he retired from the Record,
