| for two weeks with hepatitis. She

Robert Keiper, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Clayton Keiper, who has been
stationed with the armed forces at
Trois, Fountaine, France, has re-
turned to his home here, after
twenty-two months in the service.
Mr. and Mrs. Loren Case spent the
weekend at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Leland Case, Tonawanda, N. Y.
Christine Blizzard, chairman for
the heart fund drive, reports a
collection of $150 in this area. She
wishes to thank all who gave so
generously.
George Buckingham, Boston,
Mass., visited friends in this area
last weekend.
The Irish Fair held by classmates
of Methodist Church on Friday eve-
ning was a complete success. They
cleared $101. The following received
prizes for cakes which they entered
in the contest. The most original
went to Sophia Hackling, the nicest
decorated to Mis: Harold Bennett,
the best chocolate, Mrs. Vane Race,
the white cake to Mrs. Alpha
Dymond and the miscellaneous to
Mrs. Chester Keiper. There were
many other beautiful cakes and it
was a difficult task for the judges to
decide which was best. Judges
were Mrs. Clark Oliver, Mrs. Guy
Fritz, Rev. Wesley Kimm, Rev. and

ing six weeks at Lake Wales, Fla.
They made the trip by train.

Street, is a surgical patient at Gen-
eral Hospital.

Mrs. Earl Kittle Sr., Mrs. Arlene
Adams visited Mrs. Rose Hoover at
General Hospital on Sunday. Mrs.
Hoover is the sister of the late Harry
Smith, who passed away two weeks
ago. Mrs. Hoover was taken ill after
returning from the viewing of her
brother at Bronson Funeral Home on
Thursday evening.
Yours truly received a card last
week from Ed Faust, who has been
spending the past month 'in Flor-
ida. He reports the temperature as
87 degrees. We're all looking for our
thermometer to start rising soon
too. :

family of Philadelphia were week
end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Peter
Maransky. The Romans have rented |
the Peterson home, and they plan to |
use it for a summer home.

son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
Stroud, 'W. Center Street, has re-
turned after his! first leave from
the Mediterranean to Norfolk, Vir-
ginia, aboard the U. 8S. S. Des Moines,
after which he will be sent to Boston,
Mass. He will complete his enlist-
ment April 27 and then return home.

Mr. and Mrs. Luther Hummel were
saddened by the death of a faithful
dog, Sandy. We had her fifteen
years, ‘she was a pet of daughter,
Patsy and all the neighbors. Patsy
is now living with her family in the
Philippines and does not know about
Sandy as yet.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Darnell
received a card from Florida from
daughter, Shirley Darnell, R.N., who
is stationed at Philadelphia in service
of government. She flew down and
back.
Mr. and Mrs. Don McDermott
and children, Donna and David,
visited her mother, Mary Nienius,
sisters, Diana Wegner, Mildred Dar-
nell, over the weekend.

Sincere sympathy is extended to
the relatives of Amos Hoover. Mr.
Hoover was buried on Saturday at
Ruggles.
Ole’ Man winter is still at it. Very
few out to church on Sunday because
of icy roads. Spring would really be
welcomed.
Holy week will be obderved in the
following churches: Monday evening,
Noxen; Tuesday evening, Kunkle;
Wednesday evening, Ruggles; Thurs-
day evening, Alderson. It will be
Communion service. Good Friday,
Noxen at 10:30 a.m. A This is a
children’s service but all ages are
invited and urged to attend.

spent the weekend with his parents,

Returning to camp with him on
Sunday was Marine P.F.C. Keith
Sorber, who has been spending the

are stationed at Camp Le Jeune, N. C.

Lehman Sewing Award
Barbara Ross, Lake-Lehman Sen-
ior, won the $5.00 prize awarded by
the Lehman Woman’s Club in the
recent sewing contest sponsored by
the General Federation of Woman's
Clubs and the National Pattern Ser-
vice. Judging by Mrs. Ruth Darbie,
extension home economist and
Mrs. Robert Miller, sewing instruct-

workmanship, fashion effect and
becomingness to wearer, Girls mod
elled their own costumes. Runners
up in’the contest, who also received
gifts were Leah Kliamovich, Marily
Woodling, Pat Zbick and Candy Dis-
