Mr. Hartman said he had ridden on the new Borough truck with Street Commissioner Alvin Shaffer storm and that the new; wider plow ! did a splendid job except along those places where parked automobiles restricted its use. “Plenty of people,” Mr. Hartman said, ‘have driveways where they could park their cars. If they would only do it, we could really do a job on Borough streets after storms.” It was also brought out that a number of employees of Main street business establishments are parking their. cars for long periods of time on Main Street—thus preventing shoppers from finding convenient parking places. (Council passed unanimously on third reading an ordinance subject- ing any minor to $100 fine for buying or attempting to buy any intoxicating beverage in any licensed establishment or for fre- quenting the same. The Secretary was anthorized to: pay all bills to finish out the year. At the request of Borough Secre- tary Robert Brown a notation was made on the, minutes that all fees accruing to him for the duration of his term of office as Justice of the Peace shall be turned over to Mrs. Nelson Shaver or Dallas Borough, so long as he remains Secretary of the Borough. Council instructed Street Com- missioner Shaffer to block off Lackawanna Avenue so that it can be used by children for sleigh riding. Winding up its year end business Council made its annual contri- bution of $300 each to Henry M. Laing Fire Company and Back Mountain Memorial Library, and $200 to Luzerne County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for its work in helping the Borough to take care of unwanted dogs. : Councilman Wilbur Davis, chair- man of the light committee, recom- light at the intersection of Power- horn Drive and Hickory Street. Councilman Robert Moore, chair- man of the police committee, an- nounced that Henry Urban has taken over the school patrolman’s job at the Borough School replacing William Davis, who had to retire because of illness. Councilman Robert Parry pre- sented a survey recently made in the area by the Playground & Re- creation Association. “The average husband is concern- ed about what the government spends and what his wife spends— the difference being that he’s not CLARINET OUTFITS TRUMPET OUTFITS TROMBONE OUTFITS ‘Cash or Terms Jacobs Music Centre Center St Main Highway Shavertown OPEN 9 to 9 Phone OR 5-1567 afraid to criticize the government.” |: Jacobs Music Centre Center St. Phone OR 5-1567 MUSICAL | INSTRUMENT REPAIRING Main Highway Shavertown OPEN 9 to 9 Cemetery *NViSaihs Potted Plants ‘Novelties Cut Flowers HILL- the florist PIONEER AVENUE SHAVERTOWN PHONE OR 4-7331 CHRISTMAS FLOWERS Ho GRE 4 Bl, HARVEYS LAKE HIGHWAY — Why Go To Town?
