A mass of requiem was celebrated Tuesday morning from St. Francis Cabrini Church, followed by burial at Mt. Olivet. In death, he returned to his own home acreage, which had been sold to the St. Francis Cabrini parish when a portion of the dairy farm was given up. He was a native of Poland, coming to this country fifty-three years ago. For many years he operated a grocery business in Upper Pittston, and was also owner-operator of a dance hall. He leaves his widow, the former Victoria Piontek; five sons: Frank, at home; Stanley, Edward and John, Caverton; Henry, West Wyoming; four daughters: Mrs. Anthony Yaglosky, Mrs. Stephen Lawrence, Mrs. Alphy Martin, Mrs. William Murray, all of Carverton; twenty- fivé grandchildren and one great- grandchild; a brother John, Scotia, N. Mrs. Lillian Whipp Passes Away At 82 Mrs. Lillian Whipp, long-time resident of Church Street, Dallas, died at 82 at the home of her son Ralph W. Whipp in ‘Shavertown, Saturday night. The funeral was held from a Luzerne funeral home - Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Russell Lawry officiating. Burial was in Lehman Cemetery. Monday evening, Dallas Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, of which Mrs. Whipp was - a. charter member, held services.’ Mrs. Whipp lost her husband J. Nelson Whipp, July ‘4, 1952, but continued to live at her. home on Church Street, convenient to Dallas Methodist Church of which she was an - active member. Following an illness; she gave up the Dallas home and moved to Shavertown, dividing her time between the homes of her two sons, Ralph and Ernest. She was born in Avondale; August 5, 1877, daughter of the late Theo- dore and Susanna Roushey: Major. She lived in the Back Mountain most of her life. She enjoyed doing fancy work, but her main interests cen- tered about making a home and taking an active part in church work... During the past several years, she suffered a series of strokes, none of them disabling until ‘the latest, which partially paralyzed her several days before her death. In addition to her sons, she is survived by six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.’ Pallbearers were Clark S. Hilde brandt, Donald and Glenn Major, Percy Hart, Stephen: Johnson, and John Hildebrant.
